Beccles Airport (Ellough Airfield)

United Kingdom / England / Beccles /
 airport, skydiving, flying club

Originally part of the war time RAF Beccles this small strip of runway has been used for civil aviation since 1965. It is currently home to Rain Air a private airfield and flying school, since 1997 when Rainer Forster transferred his flight training operations from Swanton Morley.

Beccles Aerodrome has a CAA Ordinary Licence (Number P837) that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction as authorised by the licensee (RainAir (Beccles) Limited). The aerodrome is not licensed for night use. The current airstrip consists of around 450 metres of the original wartime concrete surface with 150 metres of grass airstrip.

The airfield is also the base for No. 28 (Suffolk) Civil Air Patrol Unit, a volunteer organisation which aims to aid the emergency services. UK Parachuting also operates free-fall parachute training from the airfield, which is used regularly for parachute training and exhibition jumps. Other parts of the original airbase site are now used for light industry, a karting circuit, and a Sunday market.
