Freedom Martial Arts medals at Tae Kwon Do Nationals

The Freedom Martial Arts Sports Team, led by Master John Altizer, won medals and trophies for placing among the top three in each event during a tournament held March 8 in Reston, Va. as part of the 2014 National Capital Open Tae Kwon Do Championship Team Competition.

Five athletes (Olivia Altizer, Sierra Altizer, Dylan Watson, Zach Wiseman, Nicholas Cottrell) from the 10-member team competed and were taking part in only their second competition of the season. The team ranked third heading into the latest tournament and could improve in the standings when results are released later this month.

The competition is part of a series of tournaments held on the East Coast and attracts more than 500 athletes from Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The team has been invited back to compete next season.

Freedom Martial Arts is based in New Kent County and located inside the Corner at Rock Creek on Route 60 (Pocahontas Trail) near Bottoms Bridge.
