Cloutier expects big things from Kalmikov next season

Hull Stingrays have re-signed last year's top scorer Konstantin Kalmikov for next season.

The 30-year-old Ukrainian scored 35 goals for the Rays last term and returns to Hull for a third season.

Coach Sylvain Cloutier told BBC Radio Humberside: "This could be a breakthrough year for Kalmi. Maybe we'll expect a little bit more of him.

"He had a great season last year and now he's got to build on that and be one of the stars in the league."

Kalmikov, who previously played for the Nottingham Panthers in this country before joining the Stingrays, led the clubs scoring and assists charts last term and linked up with Canadian Jason Silverthorn after Christmas.

And Cloutier says he expects those two players to spearhead the teams first line next time around.

He added: "Kalmikov can be one of those guys that can be up there in the top-10 scorers in the league and him and Silverthorn can be a pair together that can put up the numbers and compete with the top guys."
