You can clear your Google search history from the Google search box, the Google Toolbar, or your browser address bar. See instructions for all three actions below.

Clear your address bar history
The browsing history that displays in the address bar at the top of your browser window is stored by your browser, not by Google. Click a link below to see instructions for clearing browser history in the browser you're using. If your browser isn't listed, we suggest consulting its help resources.
Google Chrome

Internet Explorer 7
- Click the Tools menu.
- Select Delete Browsing History.
- Click the Delete history button.
- Click the Yes button in the confirmation window.

- Click the Tools menu.
- Select Internet Options.
- Click the Content tab.
- Click the Settings button in the 'AutoComplete' section.
- Deselect the 'Web addresses' checkbox.
- Click the OK buttons to save your settings.
Internet Explorer 6
- Click the Tools menu.
- Select Internet Options.
- Click the General tab.
- Click the Clear History button.
To completely disable the history function, set 'Days to keep pages in history' to zero.
- Click the OK button.
Firefox 2 or 3
- Click the Tools menu.
- Select Clear Private Data.
- Select the 'Browsing History' option.
- Click the Clear Private Data Now button.
Safari 2 or 3
- Click the History menu.
- Select Clear History.
Clearing your Google Toolbar history

To clear your search history in the drop-down search box on the Google Toolbar, follow these steps:
- Click the arrow on the right-hand side of the Toolbar search box.
- Click the Clear History link.

Clearing your Google search box history

The search box on the Google homepage displays query suggestions both from your own previous searches and other relevant queries. The second set of queries is powered by Google Suggest; learn how to disable Google Suggest. However, your previous searches -- your search history -- are stored by your browser, not by Google. Google Chrome

Internet Explorer 7
- Click the Tools menu.
- Select Delete Browsing History .
- Click the Delete forms button.
- Click the Yes button in the confirmation window.
- Click the Close button.
Alternatively, you can delete individual entries from your search history by using the Down arrow key to highlight a previous search, then pressing the Delete key.

- Select Internet Options.
- Click the Content tab.
- Click the Settings button in the 'AutoComplete' section.
- Deselect the 'Forms' checkbox.
- Click the OK buttons to save your settings.
Internet Explorer 6
- Click the Tools menu.
- Select Internet Options.
- Click the Content tab.
- Click the AutoComplete button.
- Click the Clear Forms button.
You can also deselect the 'Forms' checkbox to keep this information from being stored in the future.
- Click the OK button.
Firefox 2 or 3
- Click the Tools menu.
- Select Clear Private Data.
- Select Saved Form and Search History.
- Click the Clear Private Data Now button.
Safari 2 or 3
- Click the Safari menu.
- Select Preferences.
- Click the Autofill tab.
- Click the Edit button next to the 'Other forms' checkbox.
- Select Google.com from the list.
- Click Remove.
- Click Done.
