IE was launched in 1995 by Microsoft, but it became outdated, making life difficult for web developers and users. Internet Explorer may have been the most popular browser years ago, but that's not the case anymore. Only 5.8% of internet users still use IE as their main browser. To put that in perspective, nearly 70% of PCs are using Chrome.

The idea of the removal of Internet Explorer (IE) from Windows was proposed during the United States v. Microsoft Corp. case. Later, security advocates took up the idea as a way to protect Windows systems from attacks via IE vulnerabilities.
