Tatabu or Diplotropis purpurea is an evergreen tree found in South America specifically in northern Brazil, with a round, sparse crown and not buttressed cylindrical bole of up to 60 cm in diameter. It can grow up to 30 m in height. It is harvested from the wild for local use and export for its timber.
