Abstract

The present invention relates to a multifunctional wastebasket in which a standard plastic garbage bag is arranged between a main body and an inner cylinder of the wastebasket, and the lid of the wastebasket opens by swinging like a seesaw, or the lid of the wastebasket is opened upward when a pedal is pressed, and the lid of the wastebasket is separable so as to be used as a tool for pressing down trash when the wastebasket is full of trash. Thus, the wastebasket of the present invention swings the lid thereof like a seesaw while pressing trash, and opens the lid by means of a pressing of the pedal when the wastebasket is full of trash, to thereby contain more trash in a convenient manner. For this purpose, the main body of the wastebasket for containing the trash and the lid for covering the top of the main body are coupled together via a hinge pin, and the pedal arranged in the lower portion of the main body is connected to the lid through a push rod such that the lid rotates about the hinge pin so as to be opened upward when the pedal is pressed. The lid has an opening for accessing the inner cylinder arranged in the main body, and an auxiliary lid to be placed on the opening to cover the inner cylinder. The auxiliary lid is opened together with the lid to open the wastebasket when the pedal is pressed, or swings together with the lid like a seesaw to open the wastebasket.
