Abstract

A communication wrist band is disclosed. Particularly, the communication wrist band comprises a transmitter receiver assembly; and a speaker unit; the communication wrist band further comprises a first coiled cord having a first end and a second end; and a second coiled cord having a third end and a fourth end; wherein, the first end of the first coiled cord and the fourth end of the second coiled cord are attached to the speaker unit, and the second end of the first coiled cord and the third end of the second coiled cord are attached to the transmitter receiver assembly. In accordance with the present invention, any radiation from either a mobile phone or a transmitter receiver is kept well away from user's head via a use of the communication wrist band disclosed herein. In addition, the coiled cords of the communication wrist band are prevented from twisting and accidental engagements are prevented.

Description

A COMMUNICATION WRIST BAND
Technical Field The present invention generally relates to a wrist band, and more particularly to a
communication wrist band.
Background Arts Mobile phones play an important part in all our lives and they are here to stay, therefore safe usage, function and fashion are all important criteria.
Use by minors and people of high mobile phone use or where signal strength is poor are of particular concern as reportedly it may cause brain tumors. The increase of brain cancer is the reason for an urgency to find an effective way to make telecommunications safe.
Summary of the Invention
The present invention is directed to resolve above-mentioned problems by providing a communication wrist band.
The present invention provides a communication wrist band. The communication wrist band may comprise a transmitter receiver assembly; a speaker unit; a first coiled cord having a first end and a second end; and a second coiled cord having a third end and a fourth end; wherein, the first end of the first coiled cord and the fourth end of the second coiled cord are attached to the speaker unit, and the second end of the first coiled cord and the third end of the second coiled cord are attached to the transmitter receiver assembly. Those skilled in the art will readily appreciate that the first coiled cord and the second coiled cord are expandable coiled cords and can be extended when in use.
According to one embodiment, the transmitter receiver assembly may comprise a microphone unit, but the present invention is not so limited. For example, the microphone unit also may be coupled on the first coiled cord or on the second coiled cord. When the microphone unit is coupled on one of the first coiled cord and the second coiled cord, the transmitter receiver assembly, the speaker unit and the microphone unit may separate the whole wrist band into three equal parts.
According to one embodiment, the length of the first coiled cord may be same as that of the second coiled cord, and the transmitter receiver assembly and the speaker unit may be disposed opposite to each other. When the first coiled cord and the second coiled cord are in a relaxed state, the communication wrist band generally forms a circle or oval shape, but the present invention is not so limited. Further, the distance between the transmitter receiver assembly and the speaker unit may be about 2cm-8cm. Preferably, the distance between the transmitter receiver assembly and the speaker unit may be about 4cm.
According to one embodiment, at least one of the first coiled cord and the second coiled cord provides the electrical connection between the transmitter receiver assembly and the speaker unit.
According to one embodiment, the transmitter receiver assembly has an elongated arcuate body with two connecting holes diagonally disposed on the two end sides of the elongated arcuate body, and the second end of the first coiled cord and the third end of the second coiled cord may be connected to the transmitter receiver assembly via the two connecting holes respectively. Preferably, the transmitter receiver assembly may further comprise at least one operation button on a lateral side of the elongated arcuate body so as to prevent accidental engagement.
Specifically, an audio input function of the speaker unit may be switched to "enabled" while the at least one operation button is pressed, and the audio input function of the speaker unit may be switched to "disabled" while the aforesaid operation button is released.
According to a preferable embodiment, the elongated arcuate body of the transmitter receiver assembly has a proper curve so that the elongated arcuate body may closely fit the wrist of a user. For example, the transmitter receiver assembly may have an ergonomic elongated arcuate body so as to make it comfortable to wear.
According to one embodiment, the speaker unit has a tubular base with two attaching openings disposed on the two end sides of the tubular base, and the first end of the first coiled cord and the fourth end of the second coiled cord may be connected to the speaker unit via the two attaching openings respectively.
According to one embodiment, the transmitter receiver assembly may be paired to wirelessly communicate with a mobile phone or a media player.
According to one embodiment, the transmitter receiver assembly may further comprise a vibrator to indicate an incoming call.
According to one embodiment, the transmitter receiver assembly may further comprise a digital display. The digital display may be any proper display, for example, a LED display, a LCD display or a touch screen. Also, the digital display may be sized as required. According to one embodiment, the digital display may display information about a phone call or a song played by a media player, respectively, or other information when the communication wrist band communicates with and works in conjunction with a mobile phone or a media player. According to one embodiment, the transmitter receiver assembly may further comprise a light indicator. Preferably, the light indicator may be a LED to indicate an incoming call, but the present invention is not so limited.
According to the present invention, the inventor of the improved coiled cord communication wrist band provides a two-component tethered wrist band with a combination communication transmitter receiver and microphone unit in one component (namely, a transmitter receiver assembly) and a speaker unit diagonally opposite on the circumference of the tethered coiled cord. The separation of the speaker unit from the transmitter receiver assembly is approximately within a parameter of between 2cm and 8cm when the coiled cord is in a relaxed state.
Manufacturing simplicity and appearance are improved as the coiled cord is now made in two equal parts co-joining the two tethered components. Operational function and comfort are improved by offsetting the coiled cord entry and exit positions on the two components in a diagonal position. Without this feature the coiled cord twists off the central 360° plane and is uncomfortable to wear and functionally inappropriate. A further feature of this improved coiled cord communication wrist band is to have the operation button on the side of the component containing the transmitter receiver. This feature prevents accidental engagement when the user rests his/her arm on a surface.
According to one embodiment, an improved coiled cord communication wrist band with a combination transmitter receiver and microphone unit, and separate tethered speaker unit is disclosed, wherein the cord enters and exits the two components off-centre in a diagonally opposite position so that the cord remains on a 360° flat plane.
In accordance with the present invention, any radiation from either a mobile phone or a transmitter receiver is kept well away from a user's head via a use of the communication wrist band disclosed herein. In addition, the coiled cords of the communication wrist band are prevented from twisting and the communication wrist band is comfortable to wear. Further, the at least one operation button is positioned on a lateral side of the elongated arcuate body of the transmitter receiver assembly to prevent accidental engagement. Moreover, the present invention is easy to carry and use.
Description of the Drawings
The present invention will be better understood by referring to illustration of embodiments thereof, in which:
Figure 1 is a drawing of a relaxed coiled cord communication wrist band with separate speaker unit and a combined microphone unit and transmitter receiver (namely, the transmitter receiver assembly).
Figure 2 is a drawing of how the connection of the coiled cord enters and exits the transmitter receiver assembly in a diagonal position.
Figure 3 is an exploded and assembled speaker unit showing how the coiled cord connects in an offset position to prevent twisting.
Figure 4 is a drawing showing the position of the two components (the transmitter receiver assembly and the speaker unit) tethered by the coiled cord being diagonally opposite.
Figure 5 is the improved coiled cord communication wrist band on a user's hand with the coiled cord and speaker unit stretched and held between two fingers and the combination transmitter receiver assembly with microphone unit positioned on the underside of the user's wrist.
Detailed Embodiments
In the description below, for the purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the present invention. It will be apparent, however, to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without some of these specific details. In other instances, the particular illustrated example embodiments are not provided to limit the present invention but merely to illustrate it. Thus, the scope of the present invention is not to be determined by the specific embodiments provided above but only by the plain language of the appended claims.
As can be seen in Figure 1 , the communication wrist band 100 comprises a transmitter receiver assembly 2 and a speaker unit 4. The communication wrist band 100 further comprises a first coiled cord 20 having a first end 21 and a second end 22, and a second coiled cord 30 having a third end 33 and a fourth end 34, wherein, the first end 21 of the first coiled cord 20 and the fourth end 34 of the second coiled cord 30 are attached to the speaker unit 4, and the second end 22 of the first coiled cord 20 and the third end 33 of the second coiled cord 30 are attached to the transmitter receiver assembly 1. The first coiled cord 20 and the second coiled cord 30 constitute a wrist band cord 3 of the communication wrist band 100. Those skilled in the art will readily appreciate that the first coiled cord 20 and the second coiled cord 30 are expandable coiled cords and can be extended when in use.
With reference to Figure 5, a user may put the communication wrist band 100 on his/her arm, and when getting an incoming call, the speaker unit 4 is stretched and is easily held by two fingers so that the user's hand 8 can be held close to the user's head (not shown) and the speaker unit 4 may get close to the user's ear.
In one embodiment, the transmitter receiver assembly 1 may comprise a microphone unit 2, but the present invention is not so limited. For example, in alternative embodiment, the microphone unit 2 also may be coupled on the first coiled cord 20 or on the second coiled cord 30. When the microphone unit 2 is coupled on one of the first coiled cord 20 and the second coiled cord 30, the transmitter receiver assembly 1 , the speaker unit 4 and the microphone unit 2 may separate the whole wrist band into three equal parts. Also can be seen in Figure 1, the length of the first coiled cord 20 may be same as that of the second coiled cord 30, and the transmitter receiver assembly 1 and the speaker unit 4 may be disposed opposite to each other. When the first coiled cord 20 and the second coiled cord 30 are in a relaxed state, the communication wrist band 100 generally forms a circle or oval shape, but the present invention is not so limited. Further, with reference to Figure 4, the distance between the transmitter receiver assembly 1 and the speaker unit 4 may be about 2cm-8cm. Preferably, the distance between the transmitter receiver assembly 1 and the speaker unit 4 may be about 4cm.
In one embodiment, at least one of the first coiled cord 20 and the second coiled cord 30 provides the electrical connection between the transmitter receiver assembly 1 and the speaker unit 4. But the present invention is not so limited, for example, the transmitter receiver assembly 1 and the speaker unit 4 may communicate with each other wirelessly. At this time, both the first coiled cord 20 and the second coiled cord 30 may be two elastic connecting lines, and in an alternative embodiment, they may also be replaced with one elastic connecting line passing through both the transmitter receiver assembly 1 and the speaker unit 4.
In one embodiment, the transmitter receiver assembly 1 has an elongated arcuate body with two connecting holes 5 (see Figure 2) diagonally disposed on the two end sides of the elongated arcuate body, and the second end 22 of the first coiled cord 20 and the third end 33 of the second coiled cord 30 may be connected to the transmitter receiver assembly 1 via the two connecting holes 5 respectively. Preferably, the transmitter receiver assembly 1 may further comprise at least one operation button 9 on a lateral side of the elongated arcuate body so as to prevent accidental engagement, and an audio input function of the speaker unit 4 may be switched to "enabled" while the at least one operation button 9 is pressed, and the audio input function of the speaker unit 4 may be switched to "disabled" while the aforesaid operation button 9 is released. Further, the microphone unit 2 may be positioned at a proper location on the lateral side of the transmitter receiver assembly 1 , closing to the user's mouth to facilitate speaking, as shown in Figure 5 the microphone unit 2 is positioned in the center of the lateral side. But the present invention is not so limited, the microphone unit 2 may be positioned at any other proper locations on the transmitter receiver assembly 1.
In a preferable embodiment, the elongated arcuate body of the transmitter receiver assembly 1 has a proper curve so that the elongated arcuate body may closely fit the wrist of a user. For example, the transmitter receiver assembly 1 may has an ergonomic elongated arcuate body so as to make it comfortable to wear.
In one embodiment shown in Figure 3, the speaker unit 4 has a tubular base 50 with two attaching openings 6 disposed on the two end sides of the tubular base 50, and the first end 21 of the first coiled cord 20 and the fourth end 34 of the second coiled cord 30 may be connected to the speaker unit 4 via the two attaching openings 6 respectively.
In one embodiment, the transmitter receiver assembly 1 may be paired to wirelessly
communicate with a mobile phone or a media player. In a preferable embodiment, the transmitter receiver assembly 1 may further comprise a vibrator (not shown) to indicate an incoming call.
In another embodiment, the transmitter receiver assembly 1 may further comprise a digital display (not shown). The digital display may be any proper display, for example, a LED display, a LCD display or a touch screen. Also, the digital display may be sized as required. According to one embodiment, the digital display may display information about a phone call or a song played by a media player, respectively, or other information when the communication wrist band 100 communicates with and works in conjunction with a mobile phone or a media player. In one embodiment, the transmitter receiver assembly 1 may further comprise a light indicator (not shown). Preferably, the light indicator may be a LED to indicate an incoming call, but the present invention is not so limited.
When viewing the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 shows the transmitter receiver assembly 1 with a microphone unit 2 is tethered on a wrist band cord 3 of the communication wrist band 100 which in turn is tethered to a speaker unit 4 opposite the transmitter receiver assembly 1 to complete the communication wrist band 100.
In Figures 2 and 3, the coiled cord 3 connects to both the transmitter receiver assembly 1 and speaker unit 4 by entering and exiting the aforesaid two components in a diagonally offset position 5 to prevent twisting of the wrist band cord 3. The distance between the transmitter receiver assembly 1 and the speaker unit 4 is approximately within the parameter of 2cm -8cm with a preferred distance of about 4cm when the wrist band cord 3 is in a relaxed state. In Figure 3, an exploded view of the speaker unit 4 is shown with offset entry and exit attaching openings 6.
In Figure 4, a preferred distance of about 4cm between the transmitter receiver assembly 1 and speaker unit 4 is shown indicating a workable parameter measurement of between 2cm-8cm. Outside these parameters, the wrist band cord 3 may be either too large or too small for function.
In Figure 5, the speaker unit 4 and wrist band cord 3 are stretched over the back of the hand 8 so that the transmitter receiver assembly 1 with microphone 2 is positioned on the underside of the wrist for conversation.
When the transmitter receiver assembly 1 is paired to a cell phone using Bluetooth technology or similar, a phone conversation may take place using the improved communication wrist band 100. Upon receiving a phone call, an internal vibrator within the transmitter receiver assembly 1 is activated to indicate an incoming call. The user answers the call by stretching the speaker unit 4 tethered on the wrist band cord 3 up and disposing the speaker unit 4 between two fingers 10 so that speaker unit 4 can be hand held against a user' s ear for listening. The transmitter receiver assembly 1 with its combination microphone unit 2 positions itself on the underside of the wrist when the wrist band cord 3 is stretched and held between the fingers 10 over the back of the hand 8. To answer a call, an accept button 9 (one operation button) located on the lateral side of the elongated arcuate body of the transmitter receiver assembly 1 is press to engage the call, so that accidental engagement is avoided. The user is then connected to the caller and can speak directly towards the underside of the wrist where the microphone unit 2 is located in the centre of the transmitter receiver assembly 1. To end a call, the user opens his/her fingers 10 and the speaker unit 4 tethered by the wrist band cord 3 automatically retracts back to a relaxed wrist band cord 3. The operation button (may also be the accept button) 9 may be pressed once to end the call. If pressed and held for two seconds it will reject an incoming call. To redial a last number, the operation button 9 can be pressed twice quickly. In a preferable embodiment, the communication wrist band 100 may also comprise a charging mechanism. Specifically, the communication wrist band 100 has a normal USB connector (not shown) on the transmitter receiver assembly 1 , so that the communication wrist band 100 may be connected to a computer via a USB cord for charging. Preferably, the USB connector is located on another lateral side of the transmitter receiver assembly 1, but the present invention is not so limited, the USB connector may also be located on the lateral side with the microphone unit. Further, the USB connector may also be a mini USB connector.
In an alternative embodiment, the transmitter receiver assembly 1 of the communication wrist band 100 may also comprise another light indicator to indicate the conditions of charging. For example, an indicator light is red when in charging and it will turn blue when fully charged.
In another embodiment, the transmitter receiver assembly 1 may also comprise a cover plate (not shown) over the USB connector. The cover plate has an active end and a fixed end and when the active end is rotated around the fixed end, the USB connector may come out for charging.
Those skilled in the art will readily realize that the size of the communication wrist band 100 can be adjusted as required to adapt to adults and children, and the present invention is not so limited.
It may be appreciated that, in the present invention, the speaker unit may comprise at least one earphone, such as one or two earphones, or the speaker unit may comprise a combination of an earphone and a microphone which are integrally formed into one part. When the earphone and microphone are integrally formed into one part, the microphone unit in the transmitter receiver assembly may be omitted. However, the present invention is not so limited and those skilled in the art may come up with other variations, which still fall into the scope of the present invention.
Although several exemplary embodiments have been described in detail above, the
embodiments described are exemplary only and are not limiting, and those skilled in the art will readily appreciate that many other modifications, changes, and/or substitutions are possible in the exemplary embodiments without materially departing from the novel teachings and advantages of the present disclosure. Accordingly, all such modifications, changes, and/or substitutions are defined in the appended claims.

Claims

What is claimed is:
1. A communication wrist band, comprising:
a transmitter receiver assembly; and
a speaker unit;
characterized in that, the communication wrist band further comprises:
a first coiled cord having a first end and a second end; and
a second coiled cord having a third end and a fourth end;
wherein, the first end of the first coiled cord and the fourth end of the second coiled cord are attached to the speaker unit, and the second end of the first coiled cord and the third end of the second coiled cord are attached to the transmitter receiver assembly.
2. The communication wrist band of claim 1, characterized in that, the transmitter receiver assembly comprises a microphone unit.
3. The communication wrist band of claim 1, characterized in that, the length of the first coiled cord is same as that of the second coiled cord, and the transmitter receiver assembly and the speaker unit are disposed opposite to each other.
4. The communication wrist band of claim 3, characterized in that, when the first coiled cord and the second coiled cord are in a relaxed state, the communication wrist band forms a circle or oval shape.
5. The communication wrist band of claim 4, characterized in that, the distance between the transmitter receiver assembly and the speaker unit is 2cm-8cm.
6. The communication wrist band of claim 5, characterized in that, the distance between the transmitter receiver assembly and the speaker unit is 4cm.
7. The communication wrist band of claim 1, characterized in that, at least one of the first coiled cord and the second coiled cord provides the electrical connection between the transmitter receiver assembly and the speaker unit.
8. The communication wrist band of claim 1, characterized in that, the transmitter receiver assembly has an elongated arcuate body with two connecting holes diagonally disposed on the two end sides of the elongated arcuate body, and the second end of the first coiled cord and the third end of the second coiled cord are connected to the transmitter receiver assembly via the two connecting holes respectively.
9. The communication wrist band of claim 8, characterized in that, the transmitter receiver assembly further comprises at least one operation button on a lateral side of the elongated arcuate body.
10. The communication wrist band of claim 1, characterized in that, the speaker unit has a tubular base with two attaching openings disposed on the two end sides of the tubular base, and the first end of the first coiled cord and the fourth end of the second coiled cord are connected to the speaker unit via the two attaching openings respectively.
11. The communication wrist band of claim 1 , characterized in that, the microphone unit is coupled on the first coiled cord or on the second coiled cord.
12. The communication wrist band of claim 1, characterized in that, the transmitter receiver assembly is paired to wirelessly communicate with a mobile phone or a media player.
13. The communication wrist band of claim 1, characterized in that, the transmitter receiver assembly further comprises a vibrator to indicate an incoming call.
14. The communication wrist band of claim 1, characterized in that, the transmitter receiver assembly further comprises a digital display.
15. The communication wrist band of claim 1, characterized in that, the transmitter receiver assembly further comprises a light indicator.
