Abstract

It is a hybrid Food Drying System using sunlights as a primary source of energy and the classical fossil fuels (biomass, diesel, gas) as secondary to produce hot air for food drying in the convectional hot air food drying systems. Foods to be dried can be mushroom, tomato, pepper, apple, apricot, fig, banana and aromatic herbs. The source of hot air is provided by hot air production panels in the system and supported by heaters with burners. Hot air production panels are the primary source of energy. It is composed of a framework, light absorbing metal, glass, mirror, servomotor and attacked sun tracking system. Light absorbing metal is heated by sunlights directed to top and bottom of the metal. Then when air pass through the metal walls is heated since the air is passing as enforced convection so that the heat energy required by the food drying system is prohibited.
