 タッチパネル(25)とプロセッサ(28)とRAM(31)を有するゲーム装置20を提供する。プロセッサ(28)は、タッチパネル(25)から出力された検出位置データのうち、継続的なタッチ操作の開始によって出力された検出位置データが示す位置を始点の位置としてRAM(31)に記憶させる。また、プロセッサ(28)は、この継続的なタッチ操作の終了の直前に出力された検出位置データが示す位置を終点の位置としたとき、タッチパネル(25)の被接触面において共通の基点から放射線状に広がる複数の方向範囲にそれぞれ対応付けられた複数の指示入力のうち、始点を基点としたときの複数の方向範囲のうち始点から終点への方向を範囲内に含む方向範囲に対応付けられた指示入力を特定する。
