[12] The present invention will become better understood with reference to the accompanying drawings which are given only by way of illustration and thus are not limitative of the present invention, wherein;
[13] Figure 1 is a block diagram illustrating a symbolic melody converter for language according to an embodiment of the present invention;
[14] Figure 2 is an exemplary view illustrating a state that a symbolic melody converter for language is applied to a cellular phone according to the present invention;
[15] Figure 3 is a block diagram illustrating a symbolic melody converter for language according to another embodiment of the present invention; and
[16] Figure 4 is a musical score of a melody of a language according to the present invention. Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
[17] In the present invention, there is provided a symbolic melody converter for language which comprises a language melody converter which is able to convert a language into a symbolic melody by adapting the basic elements of a music and principle of the same
to a language.
Mode for the Invention
[18] The present invention provides a symbolic melody converter for language which is able to convert a language into melodies, which are musical images, by symbolically adding a music principle to a basic unit element of a language. In other words, a music scale, rhythm, chord and tone color are symbolically set in a basic element of a language unit(linguistic level) such as a consonant and vowel, syllable, word form(morphology), meaning(semantics), number, etc. So, it makes it possible to convert a word of a language or a text or a number into melodies, which may be applied to various electronic instruments which are able to generate sounds. There is provided a symbolic melody converter for language which is able to convert an inputted language into a symbolic melody.
[19] The language melody is the musical sound form that is converted into musical elements. Therefore the language melody elements can be defined as musical scale, rhythm, cord and tone color set in the elements of language. The language melody elements are, for example, a scale of consonants, a scale of vowels, a rhythm form of syllables and a sound color of words, etc.
[20] The symbolic melody converter of a language comprises a language recognition unit
110 which recognizes a language information inputted in a form of a text or a voice; a language melody element memory unit 120 which stores a language melody elements data such as a musical scale, rhythm, chord and tone color set in a basic element of a language unit; a language melody element reading unit 130 which reads the elements stored in the language melody element memory unit in accordance with a language recognized by the language recognition unit 110; a melody memory unit 140 which organize a symbolic melody of language inputted in a language melody form read by the language melody element reading unit 130 and stores the same; and a melody control unit 150 which controls the operation of each element and controls the melody memory unit 140 and the language melody element reading unit 130 in accordance with an external input signal and allows a melody signal based on the language to be outputted.
[21] In addition, the melody is defined based on a musical theory (musicology) and a language theory (linguistics) and consists of a musical scale, rhythm, chord, tone color(including common sound color), etc. Here, it may be referred to a melody or an automatically generated melody based on the rule of correspondence. The language recognition in the language recognition unit 110 may be performed by separating consonant and vowel or may be recognized with syllable or word and meaning or number. It may be achieved by properly adapting based on the object of a language.
[22] The present invention may be integrally mounted in an electronic instrument such as the cellular phone 200 or a wired or wireless transmitter or receiver. In addition, the present invention may be applied to all fields which use an internet e-mail transmission and receiving function or an ID or to all kinds of electronic products which use a local name, a station name, a word or sentence or a poetry or cartoon or may be mounted on an instrument which converts various numbers and numerals into melodies.
[23] There are further provided a language input unit 160 for inputting a language
(including voice language); an input language display unit 170 for displaying the language inputted; a language melody output unit 180 which outputs a melody signal in accordance with the language inputted; and a transmission and receiving unit 190 which transmits and receives the language and melody data to/from an external instrument.
[24] The transmission and receiving unit 190 may be implemented based on a wired or wireless method. The language input unit 160 may be formed of a microphone which is able to input a language in a voice form, and a key pad by which a language can be typed and inputted.
[25] If the language like "Kamsahapnida. Thank you." is inputted, the language recognition unit 110 recognizes with a text or a voice. When the language melody element reading unit 130 reads a musical scale, rhythm, chord and tone colorstored in the language melody element memory unit 120, and the symbolic melodies of the language inputted with the read language melodies are organized and stored in the melody memory unit 140. The language melody such as "Kamsahapnida. Thank you." stored in the melody memory unit 140 is outputted to a speaker of the cellular phone 200 like the score shown in Figure 4 or is outputted to the language melody output unit 180 which is independently provided. The user can hear the symbolic melody formed by converting "Kamsahahopnida. Thank you." and can recognize the melodies while feeling it as musical images.
[26] In case of the musical scale as shown in Figure 4, two consonants of the language [t,n
] are set as [Sol] in the basic scale of <Example 1>. However, [t] is set as [Sol-La] and [n] is set as [Sol-Mi] in Sound pattern scale of <Example 2>, so that it is set with different patterns, so that a pattern scale, in which all consonants and vowels are separated, is adapted. In Color sound scale of <Example 3>, the tone color is differently set. [Mi] is set as a tone colorof oboe, and [Sol] is set as a piano tone color. The musical scale may be set in various forms. The rhythm, chord and tone color may be also set in various forms and may be used, so that the inputted language can be applied with music images having different melodies. When the melody received is short, it has a process that is repeatedly played back, so that the music image has a strong image.
Industrial Applicability
[27] As described above, in the present invention, the language inputted with a musical scale, rhythm, chord and tone color which symbolize the basic elements of the language unit is converted into melodies which symbolize the language, so that the user can differently recognize the music image which is outputted as the language is converted into melodies. The present invention can be integrally applied to all kinds of electronic instruments which need to convert the language into music melodies. As an example, the name of a person may be expressed with melodies using transmission and receiving signal music in a cellular phone or a telephone, so that a personalized music image may be used. In particular, an old person having a weak eyesight or a person having a disabled eyesight can audibly easily recognize the language in a form of melodies.
[28] As the present invention may be embodied in several forms without departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof, it should also be understood that the above-described examples are not limited by any of the details of the foregoing description, unless otherwise specified, but rather should be construed broadly within its spirit and scope as defined in the appended claims, and therefore all changes and modifications that fall within the meets and bounds of the claims, or equivalences of such meets and bounds are therefore intended to be embraced by the appended claims.
