[2]
Background Art
[3] Generally, when a waistband of clothing is made of an elastic band formed of a rubber band or string, the size of the clothing is predetermined and there is no way to precisely recognize size variation when wearing the clothing.
[4] For example, when a man wears clothing with an elastic waistband, he cannot precisely know an extended length of his waist circumference, although his waist cir¬ cumference varies. In particular, since it is impossible for a man trying to reduce his waist circumference to always confirm variations of his waist circumference when he is wearing clothing with an elastic waistband, it is necessary to use a separate scale in order to measure variations of his waist circumference. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[5] Since it is impossible for a man trying to reduce his waist circumference to always confirm variations of his waist circumference when he is wearing clothing with an elastic waistband, it is necessary to use a separate scale in order to measure variations of his waist circumference.
Technical Solution
[6] The present invention has been made to solve the above and other drawbacks of the prior art. An object of the present invention is to provide a device for measuring a cir¬ cumference using elasticity of an elastic band, a method of measuring a circumference using the device, and a product employing the device. According to an aspect of the
present invention, the device is provided with an elastic band having an indicator part, and a measurement member corresponding to the indicator part, so that a varied length of the indicator part can be instantly observed through the measurement member when the elastic band is elastically varied, to precisely detect a circumference. The device can be used to measure waistlines, etc. for health or figure management. Brief Description of the Drawings
[7] The foregoing and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which:

[9] FIGS. 2 A to 2C are views showing an operating state of FlG. 1,
[10] FIGS. 3 A to 3C are views showing an operating state of another embodiment of
FlG. 1, and

[12]
Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
[13] In order to accomplish the above objects, there is provided a device for measuring a circumference including: an elastic band stretching/contracting in response to variation of a circumference, which has both left and right side lines spaced apart from each other, and an indicator part having a reference line between the left and right side lines; and a measurement member engaged with the elastic band and provided with an indicator window having a plurality of scale lines corresponding to the indicator part.
[14] In addition, in accordance with the present invention, there is provided a method of measuring a circumference including: a first step of aligning a reference line of an indicator part of an elastic band to be located at a center line of scale lines of a measurement member; a second step of measuring the scale lines indicated by the left and right side lines before the elastic band aligned through the first step is extended; and a third step of measuring the scale lines indicated by the left and right side lines after the elastic band is extended to calculate an extended length of the elastic band.
[15] Hereinafter, an exemplary embodiment of the present invention will be described in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
[16] FlG. 1 is a perspective view of a device for measuring a circumference in accordance with the present invention, FIGS. 2 A to 2C are views illustrating an operating state of FlG. 1, FIGS. 3 A to 3C are views illustrating an operating state of another embodiment of FlG. 1, and FlG. 4 is a perspective view illustrating installation
of a device for measuring a circumference in accordance with the present invention.
[17] Referring to FlG. 1, an elastic band 4 has a predetermined length to be attached to a waist part of a piece of clothing 100, and includes an indicator part 40 having left and right side lines 42 and 43 spaced apart from each other and a reference line 41 formed in the center between the left and right side lines 42 and 43.
[18] In this embodiment, the left and right side lines 42 and 43 of the elastic band 4 have different colors to form boundary lines to easily discriminate the indicator part 40 and the other parts, and the reference line 41 is recorded as a dotted line for easier dis¬ crimination.
[19] In addition, a measurement member 2 has a hollow part 20, through which the elastic band 4 is inserted and slid, and an indicator window 22 having a plurality of scale lines 26 formed at a surface exposed to the exterior.
[20] In this process, the indicator window 22 has a center line 24 corresponding to the reference line 41, and scale lines 26 having the same size and reference points 21a and 21b having a size smaller than the scale lines 26 symmetrically disposed at both sides about the center line 24. Therefore, a standard size of the piece of clothing 100 is in the state that the reference points 21a and 21b conform to the left and right side lines 42 and 43.
[21] Hereinafter, a method of joining and operating the elastic band and the measurement member in accordance with the present invention will be described.
[22] The measurement member 2 is joined to the elastic band 4, and the elastic band 4 is installed at the product such as a piece of clothing 100, and then the measurement member 2 is moved such that the center line 24 of the indicator window 22 and the reference line 41 of the indicator part 40 are conformed to each other, thereby aligning the left and right side lines 42 and 43 and the reference points 21a and 21b (a first step Sl, see FlG. 2A).
[23] For example, in the case of a 28-inch clothing, the state that the left and right side lines 42 and 43 of the elastic band 4 conform to the reference points 21a and 21b is a standard size of the 28inch clothing.
[24] Then, when a man wears the clothing and a circumference of the clothing is reduced as shown in FlG. 2B, the elastic band 4 is shrunk to move the left and right side lines 42 and 43 inward, at this time, the man performs a second step S2 of recording a value of the scale line 26 indicated by movement of the left and right side lines 42 and 43.
[25] On the contrary, as shown in FlG. 2C, when the circumference is increased, the elastic band 4 extends to move the left and right side lines 42 and 43 outward, at this time, the man performs the second step S2 of recording a value of the scale line 26 indicated by movement of the left and right side lines 42 and 43.
[26] Then, a third step S3 of calculating a varied length L of the elastic band 4 by
measuring variations between the value of the scale line 26 recorded through the second step S2 and the value of the scale 26 aligned through the first step Sl is performed to precisely recognize variations of the circumference.
[27] Meanwhile, FIGS. 3 A to 3C illustrate operating states of another embodiment of
FlG. 1. A center line 24 of the measurement member 2 is formed at one end of the indicator window 22, and the center line 24 and the left line 42 is conformed to each other to fix the elastic band 4 and the measurement member 2. A reference point 25 is formed at the other side of the measurement member 2 to be appropriately cor¬ responded to a predetermined standard size, and then the right side line 43 is disposed to conform to the reference point 25.
[28] Then, as shown in FIGS. 3B and 3C, when the elastic band 4 is extended or shrunk, since only the light side line 43 is varied, the man can recognize a varied length of a circumference by measuring the varied length L.
[29] In addition, FlG. 4 illustrates installation of a device A for measuring a cir¬ cumference in accordance with the present invention. Preferably, the device is installed in front of the piece of clothing 100 to allow a wearer to visually recognize a varied length. But, the installed place can be changed by design
[30] Although the present invention has been described with reference to the clothing, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that a variety of modifications and variations may be made to the products employing the device for measuring a cir¬ cumference in accordance with the present invention when a varied length of the elastic band is to be measured.
[31]
Industrial Applicability
[32] As can be seen from the foregoing, the present invention provides a device for measuring a circumference using elasticity of an elastic band or more, a method of measuring a circumference using the device, and a product employing the device, which is provided with the elastic band having an indicator part, and a measurement member corresponding to the indicator part, so that a varied length of the indicator part can be instantly observed through the measurement member, when the elastic band is elastically varied, to precisely detect a circumference. The device can be used to measure waistlines, etc. for health or figure management.
