Definitions

  • Electrode active material an electrode using the electrode active material, and a battery using the electrode
  • the present invention relates to an electrode active material, an electrode using the electrode active material, and a battery using the electrode.
  • Batteries convert and extract chemical energy into electrical energy by utilizing the oxidation-reduction reactions that occur at the positive and negative electrodes, or convert electrical energy into chemical energy and store it. It is used as a power source in
  • batteries using alkali metal ions having a small mass per unit charge have been developed.
  • batteries using lithium ions are used in various portable devices as large-capacity batteries with excellent stability.
  • Such lithium-ion batteries use lithium-containing heavy metal oxides and carbon materials as active materials for the positive and negative electrodes, respectively, and utilize the lithium ion import and desorption reactions for these active materials. The battery is charged and discharged.
  • lithium-ion battery utilizes a heavy metal compound having a high specific gravity as an active material particularly for the positive electrode. For this reason, it was difficult to sufficiently increase the battery capacity per unit mass, and therefore, it was difficult for a lithium ion battery to function as a battery having a high capacity density.
  • this battery uses an organic compound composed of low-mass elements such as sulfur and carbon as the electrode material, it is effective to some extent to construct a high-capacity density battery, but dissociation is difficult. The recombination efficiency of the disulfide bond thus obtained is low, and therefore, this battery has a problem that the charge / discharge stability is insufficient.
  • a battery using an organic compound as an active material a battery using a conductive polymer as an electrode material has been proposed.
  • This battery performs charging and discharging by a doping reaction and a dropping reaction of electrolyte ions with respect to a conductive polymer.
  • the doping reaction described here is defined as the reaction that stabilizes excitons such as charged solitons and polarons generated by the electrochemical redox reaction of a conductive polymer with counter ions.
  • Is defined as the reverse of the doping reaction that is, the reaction of electrochemically oxidizing or reducing excitons stabilized by counterions.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 4,442,187 discloses a battery using such a conductive polymer as a positive electrode or a negative electrode. This battery was expected to be developed as a high capacity density battery because the conductive polymer is composed of low-mass elements such as carbon and nitrogen.
  • conductive polymers generally have the property that excitons generated by electrochemical redox reactions delocalize over a wide range of C-electron conjugated systems and interact with each other. . For this reason, the concentration of the generated excitons is limited, resulting in a problem that the capacity of the battery is limited. Therefore, batteries using such a conductive polymer as an electrode material were still insufficient in terms of increasing the capacity and density of the battery. Disclosure of the invention
