Abstract

A system for automated and optimized file transfers among devices in a network comprises a client (112) configured to request a file transfer, a server (122) configured to transfer the requested file to the client (112), and a scheduling module configured to schedul e delivery of the file to the client (112). The scheduling modul e preferably schedules the delivery of the file to be completed by a deadline. In an alternate embodiment, the file is transferred to a device (118) in the network that did not send the request. The file transfer may be requested by a user at the client (112) or may be requested by a pre-fetch module of the client (112).
