Abstract

A personal care absorbent article comprising a nonwoven material comprising at least one time release additive. Time release of additives is addressed by encapsulating the additive in a large cavity or cage molecule such as cyclodextrin or zeolite.

Claims

AMENDED CLAIMS

1 A personal care absorbent article comprising a cover sheet and a back sheet, at least one of said cover sheet and said back sheet compπsing a polymeric material and a time release additive, said time release agent disposed at least one of in said polymeπc material and on a surface of said polymeπc mateπal, and encapsulated m a controlled release mateπal
2 A personal care absorbent article in accordance with Claim 1 furthei compπsing an absorbent core disposed between said cover sheet and said back sheet
3 A personal care absorbent article m accordance with Claim 2, wherein said time release additive is disposed in said absorbent core
4 A personal care absorbent article in accordance with Claim 1 , wherein said controlled release mateπal is selected from the group consisting of zeolites, cyclodextπn, cage molecules, natural minerals, synthetic minerals and combinations thereof
5 A personal care absorbent article in accordance with Claim 1. wherein said time release additive is activated by a concentration gradient across an encapsulated vehicle
6 A personal care absorbent article in accordance with Claim 1. wherein said time release additive is actuated by a tπgger selected from the group consisting of water, heat, chemical treatments, body exudates and combinations thereof
7 A personal care absorbent article in accordance with Claim 1. wherein at least one of said cover sheet, said back sheet and said absorbent core compπses a nonwoven web

8. A material comprising: a nonwoven material comprising a polymeric material and at least one time release additive, said time release agent disposed at least one of in said polymeric material and on a surface of said polymeric material, and encapsulated in a controlled release material.
9. A material in accordance with Claim 8, wherein said nonwoven material is selected from the group consisting of spunbonds, meltblowns, bonded carded webs, films, laminates and combinations thereof.
10. A material in accordance with Claim 8, wherein said time release additive is encapsulated in a controlled release material selected from the group consisting of cyclodextrin, zeolites, large cage molecules, natural minerals, synthetic minerals and combinations thereof.
11. A material in accordance with Claim 8, wherein said time release additive is activated by a concentration gradient across an encapsulating vehicle.
12. A material in accordance with Claim 8, wherein said time release additive is activated by an activation mechanism selected from the group consisting of water, heat, chemical treatments, body exudates and combinations thereof.
13. A diaper comprising: a fluid pervious top sheet, a fluid impervious outer cover and an absorbent core disposed between said fluid pervious top sheet and said fluid impervious outer cover, at least one of said fluid pervious top sheet, said fluid impervious outer cover, and said absorbent core comprising a polymeric material and at least one time release additive, said time release agent disposed at least one of in said polymeric material and on a surface of said polymeric material, and encapsulated in a controlled release material.

14. A diaper in accordance with Claim 13, wherein said time release additive is encapsulated in a controlled release material selected from the group consisting of zeolites, cyclodextrin, cage molecules, natural minerals, synthetic minerals and combinations thereof.
15. A diaper in accordance with Claim 13, wherein said time release additive is actuated by a concentration gradient across an encapsulating vehicle.
16. A diaper in accordance with Claim 13, wherein said time release additive is actuated by an insult.
17. A diaper and accordance with Claim 13, wherein at least one of said fluid pervious cover sheet, said fluid impervious outer cover, and said absorbent core comprises a nonwoven web.
18. A medical garment comprising: a nonwoven material comprising a polymeric material and at least one time release additive, said time release agent disposed at least one of in said polymeric material and on a surface of said polymeric material, and encapsulated in a controlled release material.
19. A medical garment in accordance with Claim 18, wherein said nonwoven material is selected from the group consisting of spunbonds, meltblowns, bonded carded webs, films, laminates and combinations thereof.
20. A medical garment in accordance with Claim 18, wherein said time release additive is encapsulated in a controlled release material selected from the group consisting of cyclodextrin, zeolites, large cage molecules, natural minerals, synthetic minerals and combinations thereof.
15 STATEMENT UNDER ARTICLE 19(1)
Claims 2, 3, 5-7, 9, 1 1, 12. 15-17, 19 and 20 remain the same, as originally filed. Applicant is submitting replacement pages 10-12, inclusive. Original Claims 1 , 4. 8. 10, 13, 14 and 18 have been deleted and replaced with new Claims 1 , 4, 8, 10, 13, 14 and 18.
Claims 1 , 8, 13 and 18 have been amended to require that the claimed materials comprise a polymeric material having a time release agent disposed in the polymeric material and/or on the surface of the polymeric material, and the time release agent is encapsulated in a controlled release material. Support for this amendment may be found on Page 1, lines 8-13 and Page 3, lines 19-22 of the description. Claims 4, 10 and 14 have been amended to provide consistency with the language of amended Claims 1 , 8 and 13 from which they respectively depend.
Applicant respectfully urges that this amendment of the claims is fully supported by the application as originally filed and, thus, incorporates no new subject matter into the application.
