Abstract

Fixed satellite constellation system that employs non-geostationary satellites (100) in sub-geosynchronous eilliptical orbits with common ground tracks. In elliptical orbits, the satellites emulate geosynchronous satellites when they are near the apogee of the elliptical orbits. The satellites will only be active during this portion of the orbit near the apogee and the remainder of the orbit shut down most functions to conserve electrical energy.
