Abstract

A safety seat for a vehicle has a perforated surface(s) and means behind the surface(s) to create a vacuum in the event of an emergency, thus retaining the occupant in the seat. The vacuum can be created by means of a pump sucking air out of a cavity behind the seat surface, or by mechanical means such as levers or springs, suddenly pulling a strong sheet away from close proximity to the perforations adjacent where the occupant contacts the seat, thus creating a vacuum.

Description

Vacuum restraining seat
The object of the invention is too provide protection in case of an accident when activated. A vaccum will force the passengerback into the seat preventing them from moving. This will be achieved by having the vaccum at the back and front of the seat.
The way the sent wil] be activated is by three different ways (footbrake, seatbelt & electronic sensor). (1) pressure from one of the switches will be great enough to cause a vaccum forcing the passenger back into the seat. The seat has been made to have holes in it (8 ) . The holes are there in order for the air too pass in and out of the seat. The air is sucked out of the seat, forcing the passenger into the seat. The seat can be made to have air ducts at the side or front to reduce the speed of the sir flowing back into the seat(3). The air is put back in order too release the passenger in case of an emergency.
Method 1
A sheet of strong material (4) is pushed up against the back of the seat covering the holes in the back. The sheet of strong material is then covered which is affixed to the seat (5) preventing air getting into the system making it air tight.
Calculations will have too be made in order for the system too work. Springs (6) are tightly secured too the side of the seat. These springs are spring loaded. Once it has contracted back as far as it roes ϊt will resort back too its natural state. A lever (7) is securied too the steel material (4) and through the covered material which is making the back of the seat air tight. The lever is attached to a spring in which it in also securely attached to the strong material (8), other devices can be used instead of a lever in order to create a vaccum effect.

Claims

VAS (Vaccum Assisted Seat)
This is where the user setting on the seat is protected by the VAS which pumps air out of the seat pinning the passenger too the seat preventing the passenger from moving.

To activate the vaccum, can be achieved in different ways either by the footbrake, seat belt, electronic sensor or all three.

Air ducts can be used for tv/o different reasons, one is too drain off excess fluids that has accumulated in the seat. The other is too reduce the speed in which the user is being released. The vaccum can work perfectly will without, the air ducts so it is up too the manufacturer to include this.

A sheet of strong material is pushed up against the seat when the sheet is pulled back this creates a vaccum.

The back of the seat is covered in a rigid casing in order for the air too be pumped out. Calculation for this has to be made, in order for the pump to work correctly.
