Abstract

A glove, sock or the like, comprising a part being a barrier-layer (1) within which a lining (5) or parts of a lining (5) is/are arranged, whereby the lining (5) is fixed within the outer part (1) by means of at least one tape (3, 4) which is attached to the lining (5) at one of its ends by attachment means (2, 7), preferebly a seam (2), at which said attachment means (2) is positioned at a distance from the inner extreme (E) of said lining (5) or part of the lining (5) and that the tape (3, 4) extends in a direction towards said inner extreme (E).

Description

METHOD FOR ATTACHMENT OF LINING WITHIN A GLOVE, SOCK OR THE LIKE.
Technical area
This invention concerns a glove or the like, with at least two layers, preferebly a glove with one non waterpermeable layer.
Technical background and problems
This invention mainly concerns multilayergloves with one non permeable layer. Thanks to recently develloped materials of the barrier-layer type, like GoreTex, that does not let liquids through but the air and steam, such gloves can be moore usable than what was possible earlier. At production there is a problem with such a barrier-layer, due to problems concerning sealing it can not be sewn. Particularily for gloves this causes difficulties with the attachment of a lining within in for example a finger having a barrier-layer. In consequence many producers do not at all attach the lining to the barrier-layer, which is most unsatisfying as the lining easily comes out with the hand when taking off the glove.
There has been attempts to solve the problems mentioned above by fixing the lining to the barrier-layer with tape. Known applications where tape has been used have however proven limited strength. Solution and advantages
The object of this invention is to solve the above mentioned problems in such a way that a lining can be attached within a glove or the like containing a barrier-layer without any risk of causing leakage and without any risk for the lining to come loose when the glove is taken off.
The above mentioned object is achieved with a glove or the like in accordance with the invention whose scope appears from the following patent claims.
Brief description of the drawings
In the following the invention is explained in more detail with reference to the figures, in which:
Fig 1 shows a part of a finger of a glove in cross-section according to the invention
Fig 2 shows a finger of a glove in cross- section comprising a futher layer compared to the glove shown in fig 1.
Fig 3 shows a known glove
In figure 1 there is shown a preferred arrangement of a glove according to the invention with an outer barrier-layer 1 within which there has been arranged a lining 5. The barrier-layer 1 consists in the preferred example of a material that does not.let liquids through but steam of a certain partial-pressure will pass,such as for example a Gore-Tex material. The main object of the lining 5 is to enhance the comfort for the user of the glove but it also in some cases has an isolating function. To make sure that the lining 5 will stay within the barrier-layer 1 ,when the glove is taken off the hand, a tape 3,4 is positioned between them. The tape 3,4 consists in the preferred embodiment of a flexible, force transmitting part 4 on which is arranged an adhesive means 3. The adhesive means does in the preferred example consist of a hotmelt but it can also be of a contactadhesive type. The tape 3,4 is fixed to the lining 5 with a seam 2. The other end of the tape 3,4 is fixed to the inside of the barrier-layer 1 by the adhesive means 3.
In figure 2 there is shown a finger of a glove in section where the finger consists of three layers. These three layers contains an inner lining 5, an intermediate layer that is the barier-layer 1 and an outerlayer 6 which'is a durable-layer. The lining 5 is fixed to the barrier-layer with a tape 3,4 in all according to what is described above concerning figure 1, except the difference that in this case a two side adhesive tape is used so that also the lining 5 is fixed with an adhesive attachment means 7. The outerlayer 6 is fixed to the barrier-layer 1 with a tape 8,9 that is fixed with a seam 10 to the outerlayer 6. Also this tape 8,9 consists of a forcetransmitting layer 8 on which at least one adhesive layer is arranged. With this adhesive layer 9 the outerlayer 6 is fixed to the barrier-layer 1 by means of the tape 8,9 adhering to the outer surface of the barrier-layer 1.
The invention is not limited to what is said above. It can be varied within the scope of the following patentclaims.
The essential feature with an arrangement according to the invention is that the tape is attached to the lining at a distance from the inner outer (E), extreme of the lining. This brings about the favourable effect that there will not be one point of attack in the adhesive layer by the force appearing when taking the hand out of the glove. Instead there appears a nearly shearing force in the adhesive layer wich provides for a much higher strength than if there had been one point of attack (such an unfavourable point of attack appears at the known arrangement shown in Fig 3) .
By comparing tests it has been made obvious that the strength of attachment is about three times as high if the tape is arranged according to the invention.as if it is fixed at the inner extreme (see Fig 3) which is the common manner of application. Accordingly the invention in a rather suprising manner and in a very advantageous way solves a problem which upto now has been intricate. The tape should be attached to the lining about 2 cm or moore from the outer extreme (E), of the outer end of the lining, so that the free end of the tape is kept (for attachment to the barrier- layer 1) at about 2-2,5 cm. If a stronger connection is desired the distance can be added 0,5-1 cm. An additional spinoff-effect with a glove according to the invention is the achievement of obtaining more sensitivity in the finger-tips since in accordance with the invention it can be avoided to have a portion of a tape where the most sensitive part of the finger-tips are located. In some cases when a weaker connection is desired, it can be sufficient that the distance between the outer extreme (E), of the lining and the point of attach merely exceeds about 1 cm. An presumption for the effect of the invention, however, is that the glove is taken off in an ordinary way, i.e. that the user is gripping around the finger-tips, which of course is evident for the skilled man.
It is obvious for the skilled man that instead of an adhesive means 7 or a seam 2 the tape 3,4 can be attached to the lining 5 with other mechanical connections such as for example nails, staples, hook- and pile-attachment means or the like. Instead of the attachmentprinciple shown in figure 2 where the outerlayer 6 is attached to the barrier-layer 1 with a tape 8,9 it is possible to use other methods, such as to attach the barrier- layer 1 to the outerlayer 6 with just one seam which interconnects projecting parts thereof.

In figure 4 there is shown a tape which is suitable for attachment where it is difficult to control the position of the tape at a later stage of the production. The tape 3,4,16 comprises a flexible, force transmitting part 4 on which on one of its sides a means 3 is attached which at a later stage is made adhesive, for example a hotmelt. On the other side a contactadhesive means 16 has been attached. The contactadhesive layer 16 fixes the tape in its proper position on the lining 5 during the attachment of the seam 2 and during the insertion of the lining part 5 into the barrier- layer part 1. After activation of the outer adhesive 3 it is assumed that this has higher strengh than the contactadhesive 16 in order to obtain the forces acting in desired directions. Different adhesive means 3 and contact adhesives 16 can also be attached together on one side or on both sides of the forcetransmitting part 4 in all depending of the requirements of the production. Activation of the adhesive 3 will then be achieved in one step even if it is attached on both sides of the forcetransmitting part 4 and the fitting is performed in different steps.

Claims

PATENT CLAIMS
1. A glove, sock or the like, comprising a part being a barrier-layer (1) within which a lining (5) or parts of a lining (5) is/are arranged, whereby the lining (5) is fixed within the outer part (1) by means of at least one tape (3,4) which is attached to the lining (5) at one of its ends by attachment means (2,7), preferebly a seam (2), characterized in that said attachment means (2,7) is positioned at a distance from the inner extreme (E) of said lining (5) or part of the lining (5) and that the tape (3,4) extends in a direction towards said inner extreme (E) .
2. A glove, sock or the like according to claim 1, characterized in that said distance is equal to or exceeds 1 cm.
3. A glove, sock or the like according to claim 1, characterized in that said distance exceds or is equal to 2 cm, preferebly within the interval 2- 3 cm.
4. A glove, sock or the like according to claim 1, characterized in that said tape comprises one flexible carier-layer (4) and one adhesive layer (3) consisting of a hotmelt.
5. A glove, sock or the like according to claim 4, characterized in that said adhesive means (3) consists of a contactadhesive means.
