IMPROVEMENT IN PRINTERS RULES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom 'it may concern:

My invention has for its object to furnish animproved rule for type,'in printing curved, circular, or straight lines, which shall be so constructed and arranged as to support the type upon a true curve, and, at the same time, greatly diminish the time and labor heretofore required for printing such lines; and
It consists in the rule, constructed substantially as hereinafter more fully described.
A is the rule, which is made of brass, or other suitable metal, and in the exact curve or form of the desired line.-

The rule or brace B is made without catches, or end flanges, and its ends correspond with the edges of the iianges or catches a', of the ends of the rule A, as
shown in iigs. l and 2, so that both sides of the linev of type may be fully supported, and a line be thus made upon exactly the required curve.
If desired, the catches or end anges of the rule A may be bent upon a curve, instead of being` bent at right angles; but I prefer to bend them at an angle, as first described.
Having thus described my invention, x `What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The lprinters rule A,'formed with catches or anges a', single or double, upon its ends, whether said catches be angular or curved, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose 'set forth.
2. The combination ofthe rule or brace B with the rule A, having flanges or catches a formed upon its ends, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth. e
