Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 20. 1906.
Application filed December 19, 1905. Serial No. 292,501.
.To all whom it Huey concern:
Be it known that I, JAMEs CRAY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Champaign,
in the county of Ghampaign and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spraying-Gloves, of which the followingis a s ecification.
My invention re ates to a spraying-glove, and has for its object the provision of a device of this character which may be fitted over the hand of the user and having means whereby a spray of water may be discharged therefrom, by virtue of which construction the fingers of the hand are free for use for massage purposes while a continual supply of clean water is supplied to the bather.
Further objects and advantages of the invention will be set forth in the detailed description which now follows.
In the accompanying drawings, .Figure 1 is a side elevation of a glove constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a transverse section of a modified form of the device, and Fig. 3 is a plan view looking at the palm of the glove.
Like numerals designate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawings.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 5 designates a glove formed preferably of waterproof material. A reinforcing-piece 6 is secured to the palm of the glove. A coupling 7, carried by said piece, is adapted to re-' ceive one end of a flexible tube 8, which may be provided with a controlling-valve 9 of any desired form. A plurality of water-supply tubes 10 lead from coupling 7 to dischargeopcnings 11, formed in protuberanccs 12, carried by reinforcing-piecc 6. This piece 6 protects the tubes 10 from injury.
If desired, the tubes may be omitted, as is illustrated in Fig. 2, and the Water discharged into a chamber formed between the palm of the glove (indicated at 5 in said figure) and the wall 14, from whence said water will be discharged through openings 15, formed through protuberances 16.
17 indicates a sponge and illustrates the manner of using a sponge in connection with this device.
This glove is primarily intended for bathing purposes, though it may be used for washing wagons or in any kind of work where a constant su )ply of running water is desired. When use for workof the character set forth, the hands of the operator are protected and kept dry. When used for bathing purposes, the provision of a glove which fits upon the fingers of the hand permits the bather to use his hands more freely for massage purposes than would be possible if the hand-covering were not made in the form of a glove. The glove when held over the head produces an efficient shower-bath. A sponge bath may be obtained by passing the glove over and close to the body. When used in connection with a sponge, as illustrated in Fig. 2, clean water is constantly supplied to said sponge, as will be readily understood. 1
From the foregoing description it will be seen that simple and efficient means are herein provided for accomplishing the objects of the invention; but it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the precise construction set forth, but that changes Within the scope of the appended claims may be resorted to without departure from said invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by-Letters Patent, is
1. A glove, a web formed integral therewith and dividin said glove into chambers, one of said chambers serving as a hand-cow ering and the other of said chambers serving as a liquid-chamber, and having communication with a source of liquid-supply, said liquid-chamber being provided on its exposed surface with a plurality of spaced dischargeopenings.
2. A glove, a central web formed integral therewith and dividing said glove into independent chambers, one of said chambers serving as a hand-covering and the other of said chambers serving as a li uid-chamber and having communication wit 1 a source of liq uid-supply, said liquid-chamber being provided on its exposed surface with a plurality of spaced rounded protubcrances severally formed with central discharge-openings comchamber.
3. A glove, a central web formed integral therewith and dividing said glove into independent chambers, one of said chambers serving as a hand-covering and the other of said chambers serving as a liquid-chamber,
said liquid-chamber being provided on its ICO municating with the interior of said liquid- I I r exposed surface with a plurality f spaced In testimony whereof I affix my signatu rounded protuberances severally formed with central discharge-openings, a liquidconductor communicating with said liquidchamber and independent flexible tubes com municating severally with said dischargeopenings and said conductor.
in presence of two witnesses.
