MARY OANTWELL, OF LEAVENWORTH, KANSAS.
NURSING-BOTTLE.
SPEGIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 735,707, dated August 11, 1903.
Application filed October 25, 1902. Serial No. 128,730- (No model.)
To all whom it ma,y concern.-
- Be it known that I, MARY GANTWELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Leavenworth, in the county of Leavenworth and State of Kansas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Nursing-Bottles, of which the followingv is a specification.
My invention relates to n ursing-bottles; and
the object of my invention is to produce a nursing-bottle which may be easily and thoroughly cleaned interiorly. To this end I construct the bottle in two separable sections, so that the inside surface of each section may be cleaned by rubbing in addition to the action of scaldingwater usually employed.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure l is an elevation of a nursing-bottle constructed in accordance with myinvention. Fig. 2 is a partial vertical section of the same. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the bottle.
1 designates the upper and 2 the lower section of the bottle. The meeting edge of each section is ground plane and smooth, so that when said edges are fitted together they form a liquid-tight joint without the interposition of a gasket QI other packing device. Each section is externally threaded adjacent to its meeting edge for the purpose of receiving an internally-threaded annular coupling 3. This coupling may be of metal or any other suitable material. In assembling the bottle the coupling is screwed onto one of the bottlesections and the other section is screwed into the projecting half of the coupling until the ground edges of the sections are drawn into close contact with each other. Each section of the bottle may be provided with a bead or flange, as 5, either of said flanges actingas a stop to limit the rotation of the coupling when it is placed upon either of the sections.
4 designates a rubber nipple secured to the neck of the bottle by a band, which may be either elastic or non-elastic. If non-elastic, it is providedwith a fastener, as 6.
Having now fully described my invention,
what I claim as new, and-desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
A nursing-bottle comprising an upper and a lower half, each half of the bottle being externally threaded adjacent to its meetingedge, and the meeting edges of both halves being ground to form a close fit with each other, an annular stop integral with one of said halves, and an internally threaded coupling ring adapted to receive the threaded portions of the halves whereby the latter may be drawn tightly together, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I affixmy signature in the presence of two witnesses.
MARY CANTWVELL.
