JULIUS STEINBERGER, OB SAN FRANCISCO, OALIFORNIA.
G LOVE-FASTEN ER.
SPEGIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 609,918, dated. Aug'ust 30, 1898.
Application fi1ed N0vem'ber 16, 1896. Seria] N0. 612.175. (N0 mode1.)
T0 all whom iz% may concern:
Be io known thau I, J ULIUS STEINBERGER, a oitizen of the United States, residing a1; San Francisco, in the oounty of San Francisco and Starte of California, harre invented 0ertain new and useful Improvernents in G1ove- Fasteners; and 1 (10 hereby dee1are that the following is a full, e1ear, and exaot deseription thereof.
The preseno invention relates uo a certain new and useful improvernent in glove-fasteners, and more espeeially that snyle 0r o1alss of fasteners or fastening-but-tons fully shown and deseribed in Letters Patent of the United States N0. 405,179, granted o P. A. Raymond J une 11, 1889; and it eon sists in the errange- 1nent of parts and. details of construction, as will be hereinafter fu1ly sei; fornh in the drawings anc1 described and pointed 0ub in the specifieanion.
The invention eonsists more particularlyin so construotin g the spring fastening-staud that it may be adjusted forward or baekward upon the g1ove in order ohat the wrist-opening of the g1ove may be inoreased 0r deereased in aoeordanee wioh the wrist measurernent of the wearer thereof, the objeot of the invention being to obviate ishe neeessity of speeial attacnments being employed 130 join together 0r nnite oho spring fastening-stud and embracing-button eye1et of the glove-fastener, as is the esse a1; present With this dass offasteners.
In order 110 fn11y understand the invention, referenee musb be had 110 the aooompanying sheet of drawings, forming a part of this applieation, wherein Figure 1 is a top plan view of the wrist portion of a two-buoton g1ove, the 1ower fastenin g-buton being shown fastened and the upper one open, the spring fastening-stud beingremoved. Fig. 2 is an enlarged cross-seetiona1 view of the g1ove, Laken on 1ine 00 x, Fig. l; and Fig. 3 is an ei11arged booom plan view of the spring fastening-stud.
In the drawings the lenters A A represent the fiap or wrist-seetion of the g1ove A T0 the seetion A are seeured the embraeingbuuton eyelets B. The wrist-seetion A has rigid1y seenred thereto the frarne-plates B, whieh p1ates are formed with ehe elongated opening a.
The spring fastening-studs B, whioh are attaehed to the wrist-seetion A opposite 130 the embraeing buttons B, are provided with a base-plate C. Frorn this base-plate centra1ly depends Lhe shank a, Whieh shank is made in any suitab1e shape; but: its diameter should be less than the length of the slot a in order that 'nhe said shank may have movement berein. The shank a fis and works within the said s1ot and is he1d berein by means of the disk O, the p'r0jeooing serewthreaded stem b of Whieh sorews into the sorew-threaded sooket b, formed in the shank a of the base-plate O.
In order 110 seeure the spring fasteningstud B 130 ohe wristseetion A of the glove, the shank a of the base-plate O is fitted. within the s1ot or opening a of the frameplate B and the sten1 b of the disk O sorewed into the soeket b of the shank a. The sten1 b is Screwed into the sooket b unti1 the base-plate O is brought firm1y down npon the upper face of the frame-plate, the p1ate then being between the Oase-platze O and the disk O, Fig. 2.
The disk O is made s1ightly concave and in diameter is suffieient 110 entire1y eover the under face of the frame-plate B, while the base-plate C is suffieient in size t0 eover the upper faee of said p1ate.
In order 110 move or adj ust the spring fastening-stud forward or baokward, so as to move the san1e toward or away fro1n the embraoing-buipton eye1et, it is only necessary so unserew er loosen tl1e disk C, when the shank a may be easily s1ipped eitaher forward. or backward Within he elongated opening of the frame-plate B.
The va1ue am]. importance 0f being able to give an adjustrnent so the spring f:asening stud will readily be appreoiated by those familiar Willh the manufaeture and use of g1ove fastening devioes.
In esse the wrist-seotion A of the g1ove is provided withbuttonholes instead 0f e1nbraoing-buton eyelets then the springfasteningstand may be changed into a buttaon Wit-1rout requiring ehange in he adjusting portion thereof, es the base-plate O oan ea'rry a batton equally es we1l as a stud. 'Ihis slight ohange from a, stud 110 a button wou1d not ereate a, departure fron1 my invention.
I do no wish o0 be understood as elaiming NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
per se a. fastener for g1oves consisting of a separable screw-button 0r simply a, button.
- eomposed 0f two separable parts, for such a style of button is fully shown and described in Letters Patent N0. 556,851, granted to Lee and Bramberg March 24, 1890. The form 0f button disclosed by seid Letters Patent does not eonstitute a fastener f01 g1oves nor eould 1't be used for the purpose f01 whieh the present invention is designed.
Having thus deseribed 1ny invention, what I c1aim as new, and desire t0 seeure protection in, is 7 In a g1ove, the combination with a framep1ate secured t0 one of the wrist-sections,
