UNITED TATES ATENT FFICE JOSEF SCHOEN E, OF BERLIN, GERMANY, ASSIGNOR TO WISKEMANN & (70., OF OASSEL, GERMANY.
POWDER-INSUFFLATOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 566,411, dated August 25, 1896. Application filed July 12, 1895. fierial No. 555,751. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J OSEF SOHOENE, medicinze doctor, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, and a resident of Berlin, in the Empire of Germany, have invented a new and useful Vaginal Powder-Injector, of which the following is a specification,
The instrument forming the object of the present invention, a vaginal powder-inj ector, serves for easily and uniformly covering with medicinal powder the upper section of the female vagina and of the vaginal parts of the womb, as also the exterior mouth of the womb, without the necessity of using a dilator of the matrix.
In the here-annexed drawing the figure is a longitudinal section of the instrument.
It consists of an india-rubber ball a, provided with the valves 0 and 2', of a tube 1), bent to the form of the vagina, with the opening 6 for filling in the powder, and which is closed by a sliding ring d, and a head-piece a, screwed onto the end of the tube. This is of open-work, generally made of bent wire loops h, and not unlike a barrel in profile.
The head-piece is open at the front, but behind it is provided with a bottom f, with the threaded hole of which it is screwed on to the thread 9 at the end of the bent tube 6 in such manner that the latter protrudes a short end 1) into the inside of the head-piece A.
The whole head-piece A forms a stiff body, but easily introduced into the vagina. After the introduction of the instrument into the vagina such an opening is made by the head- 3 5 open-work of the head-piece insures a uniform 4o effect of the powder upon the distended walls of the vagina. Further, the hinder part of the openings of the head-piece A permit, on account of the great width, an immediate escape of the blown-in air from the head-piece and the vagina without the feeling of pain and tension and without drawing the powder out again with it; and, finally, the protruding tube end 17 in the hollow space in the head-piece prevents a stopping up of the mouth of the 50.
tube by slime.
What I claim is- In a vaginal powder-injector the combi nation of a stiff head-piece A, having bent wire loops h with the bent tube 17, the ring (1 for covering the opening e and the indiarubber ball a with valves 0 and 2', as set forth.
