UNITED ASTATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROWLAND FOX, OF CAMDEN, NEIV JERSEY, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO IRVIN O. BEATTY, OF SAME PLACE.
WOVEN PANTALOONS, OVERALLS, 80C.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 462,040, kdated October 27, 1891.
Application filed June 19, 1890.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROWLAND FOX, a citi zen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Camden, and State of New .I ersey, have inventeda new and useful Improvement in Voven Pantaloons, Overalls, tbc., which improvement is fully set forth in the following specication and accompanying drawings.
My invention consists of a pair of pantaloons, overalls, tbc., which is woven in one piece, as will be hereinafter set forth.
Figure l represents a face View of a tubular fabric from which a pair of pantalcons, overalls, tbc., embodying my invention is produced. Fig. 2 represents a face view of a portion of the opposite side ofthe same. Fig. 3 represents sections on lines .fr @c and 00 x', Fig. l. Fig. 4 represents a perspective View of a pair of pantaloons embodying my invention.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
In carrying out my invention I weave a tubular fabric open at both ends and consisting of a single tube A for a portion of the length of the fabric and two tubes B for another portion thereof. The tubes B join the tubes A on what may be termed the front face by the neck O, which is continuous of the other face or back portion D of the tube A. The front face of the tube Ahas a longitudinal opening` E, the same extending from the end of said tube A to the neck C. The tubes B are separated, as at F,from the neck O and back D lo the line y y, Where there commences a duplication of the tubular structure hereinbefore described.
I cut through the tubes B at the line y y, thus leaving a form shown in Fig. 4, it being noticed thatthe separated tubes B constitute the legs of a pair of pantaloons, dsc., and the tube A constitutes the hip and waist portion of the same. The openingE provides for the iiy, and the neck O and lower portion of the Serial No. 355961. (No model.)
back D, joining the same, constitute the crotch.
In the production of the tubular fabric, Figs. l and 2, I employ a proper loom and shuttles with Warps and wefts for making the four pieces of fabric constituting the two faces of the .two tubes B and for making the two pieces of fabric constituting the single tube A, and I provide by shedding, dac., for the opening E in the tube A, the opening F between the tubesB B, and the neck C between said openings E F; and it is evident that I may produce the original tubular fabric with its characteristics in great length, duplicating said characteristics at intervals, so that when the fabric is cut through on the line y y it is severed at the bottom of the legs of oneA pair of pantaloons and top of the waist portion of another pair thereof.
The pantaloons, dac., may be pressed and finished with buttons, linings, tite., as well known in tailoring.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- A l. Apairof pantaloons havingits body and legs formed of a single piece of tubular woven material, the legs being separate tubes extending from the body, and said body having an opening D therein formed at the time of weave ing, substantially as described.
2. A continuous Woven tube having necks at intervals formed with openings D and individual tubular legslongitudinally between and connected by said necks, said openings D being located at and between the end terminations of said tubular legs and where the connected parts are separated to forni individual pairs of pantaloons, substantially as described.
ROW/'LAND FOX.
