Abstract

An improved plate and cup includes present day disposable cardboard or plastic plate and cup and a double adhesive back material or reasonable thickness and in the form of a disc or ring. One side of the double adhesive back material sticks in position to the outside bottom surface of the disposable cardboard or plastic plate and cup on which plates and cups normally rest while in use. The opposite adhesive back, to preserve its effectiveness while not in use, is then protected with a thin wax paper which peels off easily when the plate or cup is to be used. This then renders the plate or cup stable upon being placed on a reasonably flat surface.

5 Claims, 6 Drawing Figures NONTIIPPING, DISPOSABLE DISHWARE BACKGROUND OF INVENTION l. Field Of Invention The present invention relates to improvements in present day cardboard and plastic and other disposable plates and cups.
2. Description Of Prior Art The art in this area of providing stability to plates, cups and the likes for serving foods and drinks, and more particularly to disposable plates and cups has not, to our own observations, knowledge and searches, advanced to a degree of being able to still maintain in the feature of disposability as far as disposable plates and cups are concerned, or, has it improved on plates and cups made of porcelain, glass and other expensive plastic materials with porcelain or glass like properties, to be economically practical.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION Present day disposable cardboard and plastic plates and cups are most commonly used in outdoor gatherings and parties such as picnics. It is the characteristics of these disposable plates and cups to be reasonably inexpensive and very light in weight and as such, are not reasonably stable when placed on tables, trays and convenient flat surfaces. A slight accidental bumping or rocking of the serving table or tray could easily tip these disposable cups over and the disposable plates sliding with the motion of the table or tray. Same inconvenience can be caused by a slight wind or breeze.
It is the object of this invention to provide stability to plates, cups and the likes for serving foods and drinks and more particularly to disposable plates and cups.
Another object of the invention is to maintain the economic practicality of said plates, cups and the likes for serving foods and drinks and the disposability features of disposable plates and cups while providing stability during use.
The invention, together with the above objects and advantages, may be better understood with reference to the accompanying drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING FIG. l is a perspective view of a cup showing the at tached position of the double adhesive back material in the form of a flat ring.
FIG. 2 is a longitudinal section through FIG. 1
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of a cup showing the attached position of the double adhesive back material in the form of a disc. FIG. 4 is a perspective view of another embodiment of the invention as relates to cups.
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of a plate showing attached position of the double adhesive back material in the form of a flat ring.
FIG. 6 is a longitudinal section view of FIG. 5
DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS An improved cup 10 includes cup 9 having a ring shaped 12 or disc shaped 15 double adhesive back material affixed to bottom with protective covering on outer adhesive side. Said covering removed prior to use.
Another embodiment of the improved cup, FIG. 4 wherein cup 13, being larger in diameter and lesser in length, having cup 9 nesting in its confines, said cup 13 having affixed to its bottom, double adhesive back material either ring shaped 12 or disc shaped I5. I
An improved plate 16 includes a plate 20 and a double adhesive back material 17 in the form of a flat ring affixed to its bottom. The outside diameter 14 and 19 of the double adhesive back material is smaller than the outside diameter 11 and 18 of the outside bottom resting surface of the cup 9 and plate 20 respectively. These arrangements allow a reasonable lee-way in attaching the corresponding double adhesive back material 12, 15 and 17 to the said cups and plates during as sembly in the sense that it will alleviate the problem of the double adhesive back material 12, 15 and 17 not being within the bottom surface area bounded by the outside diameter 11 and 18. Hence, the assembled cups and plates can be stacked and stored in the usual manner.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as an advantageous improvement and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:
l. A non-tipping disposable dishware assembly comprising a first member having a bottom provided with a predetermined shape and adapted to receive food, and a second member adapted to support said first member in an eating position on a supporting surface, said second member having upper and lower supporting structures, said upper supporting structure conforrnably receiving said bottom of said first member, an adhesive member covering said lower supporting structure, and a strippable member protecting said adhesive member.
2. The dishware assembly according to claim 1, wherein said first member is a round drinking cup and said second member is a round nesting cup having a bottom to which said adhesive member adheres.
3. The dishware assembly according to claim 2, wherein said adhesive member comprises a disc of adhesive material substantially covering the entire bottom of said nesting cup.
4. The dishware assembly according to claim 2, wherein said adhesive member comprises a ring of adhesive material concentrically disposed with respect to the bottom of said nesting cup.
5. The dishware assembly according to claim 1, wherein said first member is a round drinking cup and said second member is a round nesting cup, said nesting cup being larger in diameter and lesser in length than said drinking cup which nests within the confines of said nesting cup.

Claims (5)

1. A non-tipping disposable dishware assembly comprising a first member having a bottom provided with a predetermined shape and adapted to receive food, and a second member adapted to support said first member in an eating position on a supporting surface, said second member having upper and lower supporting structures, said upper supporting structure conformably receiving said bottom of said first member, an adhesive member covering said lower supporting structure, and a strippable member protecting said adhesive member.
