FIG. 2
INVENTOR.
W YNN B. TREDWAY, SP.
GOLF SWING TRAINING GLOVE INCLUDING LIGHT PROJECTING DEVICE SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION A teaching golf glove in accordance with the invention comprises a conventional glove to which is mounted a light activated by a source of power and having an on-off switch. The light also has a lens on which there may be an indicia. Rays of light from the light project the indicia onto a wall or other structure adjacent a golf pupil wearing the glove during a training program.
For a further understanding of the invention and for features and advantages thereof, reference may be made to the following description and drawing of one embodiment of the invention.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION or THE DRAWING In the drawing:
FIG. 1 is a schematic plan view of the back of a golf glove in accordance with the invention;
FIG. 2 is a modification of .the invention of FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 is a view along line.llllll of FIG. 1; and
FIG. 4 is a schematic view of the hands of a golf pupil .wearing the teaching golf glove of my invention holding a golf club at the top of the backswing.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION Referring to FIG. 1, a teaching golf glove 11 in accordance with my invention comprises a leather glove 13 which may be what is usually called a full glove, or it may be a half-glove. The glove 13 is worn on the left hand of right handed golfers, and is provided with four conventional snaps 15 that are situated about in line with the little finger and about mid-way along the length of the back of the hand, as shown in FIG. 1.
An attachment 17 is also provided with cooperating snaps 19 which secure the attachment to the glove 13. The attachment 17 carries a light 21 which is fitted with an onoff switch 23 and a lens 25 having an indicia 27 thereon shaped as a cross. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that any other form of indicia may be used if preferred. The light 21 is energized from a battery of conventional form (not shown).
Persons who are skilled in the art will understand that the attachment 17 with the light 21 may be secured to the golf glove 13 in any other suitable manner such as by using overlapping and cooperative fabric straps. It is contemplated that in some instances the attachment and light can be readily and quickly removed from a golfers glove which will then be ready for conventional use.
In the modification of the invention shown in FIG. 2, a golf glove 29 has a light 31, like the light 21, but the light 31 is built into the glove 29 in such a way that the light 31 is not removable as is the light 21 carried by the attachment 17.
A golf pupil and more experienced golfers as well find it difficult to know when their hands and club are in the proper position at the'top of the backswing. In some cases the left wrist, for right handed pupils, is bent in the wrong way, that is out of the plane'of the forearm. However, the attachment and light of my invention when added to a golf glove afford the golf pupil and a golf instructor a %o sitive indication whether the golfpupil holds the clu -1n the proper position at the top of the back swing. Theposition of the indicia on an adjacent wall or other structure is what the golf pupil or hisinstructor observes. 1
Further, a golf instructor can observe the path traversed by the projected indicia from the time the hands and club start the backswing until they reach the I top of the backswing. If the golf pupil has moved his hands-and the club in the proper manner, the light will traverse a prescribed path marked on the structure adjacent the pupil.
' Although the invention has been described here with a certain degree of particularity, it is understood that the description is by way of example only and that what is hereinafter claimed is the substance of my invention.
What is claimed is: v
1. In a golf glove, the improvement comprising:
a. a light carried by said glove and having a lens that projects rays of light in the plane of said glove and substantially perpendicular to the fingers of said glove.
2. The improvement of claim 1 wherein:
a. said light is removably secured to said glove.
3. The improvement of claim 2 wherein:
a. said light is so oriented that rays of light emitted by said light shine substantially parallel to a golf club I held by said pupil at the top of the backswing.
4. The improvement of claim 1 wherein:
a. said light is built into said glove.
5. The improvement of claim 1 wherein:
a. said lens ,has indicia thereon through which said rays of light project. I
6. In a golf glove adapted to be worn on a golf pupils hand, the improvement comprising:
a. a light that emits rays of light in the form of an indicia pattern; and
b. means mounting said light to said glove in such a manner that said rays of light lie substantially in the plane of said glove and are substantially perpendicular to the fingers thereof when straight and close together.
7. The improvement of claim 6 wherein:
a. said indicia pattern is adapted to be projected onto structure adjacent said pupil during a training program.

Claims (7)
