Description

Jan. 2, 1968 R. G. HUTcH|soN CARRYALL BELT POCKET Filed Sep't. 2, 1966 INVENTOR 3,361,312 CARRYALL BELT POCKET Ralph G. Hutchison, Rte. 3, BX 150, Easton, Md. 21601 Filed Sept. 2, 1966, Ser. No. 576,895 1 Claim. (Cl. 224--26) ABSTRACT 0F THE DISCLOSURE A pocket having a strap to which a wire holder is secured, the wire holder being removably secured to a persons belt, thus providing a convenient case for supporting various objects.
This invention relates generally to tote bags for carrying miscellaneous small objects.
A principal object of the present inventio-n is to provide a carryall belt pocket having means for containing a plurality of small items and which has self-contained means for being supported upon a persons belt.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a carryall belt pocket which is readily adaptable for use by Sportsmen and fishermen for the purpose of carrying tools, firearm shells, iishermans accessories, first aid equipment or the like.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a carryall belt pocket which is readily adaptable for persons in various out-of-doors trades such as linesmen, rangers, and others who wish to have readily available to them various tools or other small items without the necessity of carrying them in their hands.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide a carryall belt pocket which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and etiicient in operation. These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following drawing and this accompanying specilication wherein:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective view of the present invention shown supported from a belt of a person;
FIGURE 2 is a side elevation view of the present invention shown supported from a wire holder which in turn is supported from a belt of a person, and
FIGURE `3 is a side elevation view thereof shown partly in cross-section.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, the numeral represents a carryall belt pocket according to the present invention wherein there is a bag 11 made from relatively strong material such as canvass or duck so that it may withstand rugged out-of-door use. Obviously the bag may be provided having a plastic liner or the like to prevent moisture or rain water from seeping thereinto.
The bag may be made in various sizes so as to be worn by men or by youths as boy scouts.
The bag comprises a generally rectangular member having a front and rear panel 12 and 13 respectively, bounded by vertical side edges 14 and bottom edge 15. An opening is provided at the upper end thereof providing access to an interior compartment 17 within which various items may be carried. A cover flap 18 may be provided to enclose the opening 16. The opening may be variously secured such as by slide fastener, snap fasteners buttons or clips as may be preferred by a manufacturer. Otherwise no further securement need be provided other than the flap itself, if so preferred.
Adjacent the upper end of the bag 11 there is an up- Patented Jan. 2, 1968 ICC wardly tapered strap 19 made integrally of the material forming the pocket bag 11. The strap 18 is formed to make a loop 20 which provides a means for receiving a belt 21 therethrough, as shown in FIGURE 1 for purpose of supporting the carryall belt pocket therefrom. Obviously the strap and bag may be made from a single continuous piece of material if so preferred, and as shown in the drawing, otherwise it may be made of separate materials of dissimilar character if so preferred.
In a modified form of construction shown in FIGURES 2 and 3 of the drawing, the carryall belt pocket may be supported from a wire holder 22 which is received through belt 21, thereby eliminating the necessity of unbuckling the belt so as to pass the same through the loop Zt.
The wire holder 2?. is comprised of a singular wire formed to have a straight neck portion 23 for receiving the loop 2t) therearound and having upward extending the loop 20 and which is then easily snapped over the end portions 2li each of which has a bend 25 at its upper end for resting over the upper edge 26 of a belt, and which has a downwardly depending terminal portion 27 which rests against one side of the belt while a portion 28 between the portion 23 and the bends 25 is on the opposite side of the belt. Thus in the constructions shown in FIG- URES 2 and 3 the carryall belt pocket may be quickly and easily removed from the persons belt by simply slipping off the wire holder therefrom.
In operative use the carryall belt pocket may be supported from a persons belt by either of the methods illustrated in the drawing and with the opening to the pocket readily accessible for quick removal or placement thereinto of various objects.
It is to be noted that the terminal ends 29 of the wire holder are looped to form a rounded head which is easy to slip around a belt.
Obviously the present device may be found to have many uses, only a few of which have been here named. It may be used by herdsmen, police, and others, and it may be also used for carrying food and thermos bottles if so preferred.
While various changes may be made in the detailed construction it is understood that such changes will be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as is defined by the appended claim.
I claim:
1. In a carryall belt pocket, the combination of a bag, a strap, means for said bag to contain various objects, means for said strap to support said bag and means for said strap to be supported from a belt of a person, said bag comprising of a generally rectangular member having a compartment therewithin and formed having a front and rear side bounded by vertical side edges and a bottom edge, an opening at the upper end of said bag providing access to said compartment therewithin, said bag made preferably from canvas, duck or other waterproof material, said strap being comprised integrally formed to said pocket, said strap extending upwardly ofI said opening of said pocket bag, said strap forming a loop for receiving said belt therethrough, said strap alternatively receiving a wire holder therethrough, said wire holder being secured to said belt, said wire holder comprising a configurated wire member having a straight, horizontal mid-portion forming a common base for a pair of triangular configurated ends adjacent each other, each of said triangular ends including an intermediate side of said triangle and an end side at the terminal end of said wire, and the terminal end of said end sides being rounded to form 3 4 rounded heads for easy insertion around a belt, said 1,223,932 4/1917 Camp 24-228 rounded heads being adjacent each other. 3,158,300 11/ 1964 Withee 224-26 References Cited FOREIGN PATENTS UNITED STATES PATENTS 5 1,168,796 12/1958 France.
