It is the principal object of the present invention to provide a detachable'game pocket that can be fitted into an ordinary old coat so as to convert the same into a hunting coat and thereby to make use of the old coat and reduce the expense of hunters in having to purchase hunting coats merely to have the game pockets.

It is another object of the invention to provide a detachable game pocket that can be made a part of an ordinary coat by simple stitching of a slide fastener strip to the inner side of the coat and from which by a simple slide fastener operation the entire pocket except for the strip can be detached from the coat and spread open on the ground to release the game and be rinsed, the pocket being opened by a similar slide fastener operation of another parallel running slide fastener.

' It is still another object of the invention to provide a detachable game pocket for ordinary coats which can be made and formed in a simple manner by simply joining together parallel running slide fasteners, one of which serving to releasably connect the pocket to the inner side of the coat, and the other serving to connect the drop edge of the pocket material to the other edge, the same thus being operated by two slides one to detach the pocket from the coat and the other to open the pocket.

Other objects of the invention are to provide a detacha ble game pocket for connection to ordinary coat jackets, having the above objects in mind, which is of simple construction, inexpensive to manufacture, has a minimum number of parts, easily installed in the coat and be removed therefrom, made of water proof material to prevent leakage, can be easily taken out and cleaned readily, of large size and having easily accessible entrance openings, light in weight, strong, durable, comfortable to wear, efficient and effective in use.

For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which FIGURE 1 is a fragmentary vertical elevational view looking upon the inner side of the coat and of the game pocket of the present invenfion attached thereto,

FIG. 2 is a front elevational view of the game pocket folded and with illustration made as to the manner in which the same is detached from the slide fastener part that is fixed to the inner side of the coat,

Referring now to the figures, 11 represent an ordinary coat or jacket which may have formed a part of an ordinary street suit but which has become worn and hardly suitable for street wear, yet still sufficiently strong and durable to have a game pocket 13 attached thereto. This jacket can be fastened about the front of the wearer and has buttonholes 12 by which it can be buttoned upon the opposite side of the garment in the usual manner.

The game pocket 13 is formed of sheet material preferably rubberized or waterproofed on the inner side when made of cloth or made of sheet plastic, transparent or "ice nontransparent so it will be waterproof to prevent leakage of blood or other liquid oozing from the dead game or fish and to permit the same to be washed and cleaned.

The game pocket is connected to the inner side of the suit coat 11 by a one single stitching operation with the pocket rested over the inner side of the coat and making a stitching 14 along one part 14' of a,slide fastener 15 and one of two slide parallel fasteners from which the side pocket is formed, the other of which fasteners being indicated at 16. Both of the fasteners are secured together and to the rear edge of the pocket material 13 and taken therewith, make up and provide the entire game pocket 13. A companion part 14" of the separable fastener-element 15 has the slide fastener part 16 of the slied fastener element 16 attached thereto by a stitching 18 that thereby join the parallel slide fastener elements 15 and 16 together. The slide fasteners 15 and 16 are of the same length and extend over substantially the entire width of the open coat 11. The joined slide fastener parts 14" and 16' are secured by a single stitching 17 to the rear edge of the pocket material. The front or drop edge of the pocket material that is folded up to form the pocket has slide fastener part 16" of the slide fastener element 16 secured thereto by a stitching 19. i

It will thus be seen that game pocket 13 is formed with but three parallel stitchings 17, 18 and 19 easily made thereon and that by a single stitching 14' the pocket is made secure to the inner face of the coat 11. The stitching 18 may be dispensed with and the pocket made with but two stitchings.

The front portion of the pocket material is cut away at the sides in an inclined manner to provide easy access openings 20 and 21 through which the game can be loaded into the pocket. The side edges of the folded pocket material are tapered and cut to conform to the side edges of the coat and the front and rear portions of the pocket material are joined as indicated at 20' and 21' near the bottom fold to prevent the game fromv easily slipping out of the pocket openings 20 and 21.

When the game pocket has been filled with game and it is desired to remove the same from the coat 11, a slide 14a is pulled across the slide fastener element 15 to disconnect the parts 14' and 14" and the game pocket 13 from the coat, leaving only the slide fastener part 14' upon the coat. The game will still be retained within the pocket as the slide fastener 16 is unopened. When it is desired to remove the game a slide 16a for the slide fastener 16 is drawn thereacross to separate the parts 16',and 16" and the drop edge of the pocket to be lowered and the game dropped therefrom as illustrated in FIG. 5. At this time the inner side of the pocket can be washed and cleaned.

If the game pocket is to be returned to the coat, the slide fastener part 16" is secured by the slide 16a to the slide fastener part 16' by returning the slide 16a to the I opposite side of the slide fastener 16. The pocket may then be secured to the coat by simply joining the slide fastener part 14" of the slide fastener 15 to the slide fastener part 14' on the'coat 11 by returning the slide j 7 14a to the opposite end of the slide fastener element 15.

It should now be apparent that the whole pocket has been made by two parallel running slide fastener elements secured by parallel stitchings to the'rear and drop edges of the pocket material and with one of the parts of 7 one of the elements being adapted to be secured by a simplestitching operation to the inner side'of the coat and the drop edge of the pocket material by the other p slide fastener element for securing the edges of the game pocket together. a

It should also be apparent in addition to being constructed in a simple manner and easily secured to an ordinary suit coat that a hunter can have all the advantages of a game pocket in an ordinary coat that he would have had in a hunting coat made especially for hunters and that would be purchased at great expense mainly for the game pocket by which the game can be carried.

While various changes may be made in the detailed construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the appended claim.

What is claimed is:

A detachable game pocket adapted to be secured to the inner side of an ordinary suit coat comprising pocket material folded upon itself and having rear and drop edges overlying one another, the said rear edge being adapted to extend throughout and be hung from the inner side of the suit coat, upper and lower parallel running slide fastening elements having their tapes joined together and to the rear edge of the pocket material, a cooperating slide fastener element for the upper slide fastening element being adapted to be attached to the inner side of the coat and another slide fastener element adapted to cooperate with the lower slide fastener element secured to the drop edge of the pocket material, said pocket providing side openings through which the game can be'extended into the pocket, slides provided on the respective cooperating slide fastener elements, one of which is operable to separate the pocket from the coat and the other of which being operable to separate the drop edge from the rear edge of the jocket material to spread open the pocket, said slide fastener elements being joined to the respective rear and drop edges of the pocket material by a single stitching operation extending across the full Width of the pocket, said front pocket be ing cut at the upper end portions so as to provide the pocket with easy access entrance openings at the opposite sides of the game pocket, the lower end portions of the front pocket material being secured to the rear portion adjacent to the folded lower edge of the pocket material to prevent the game from slipping out of the pocket as it is suspended from the coat.
