Referring to the drawing, a shoe is shown having a ground-engaging bottom section II), a foot-engaging top section or insole II, a vamp strap l2 and a heel-and-ankle strap l3. The bottom section comprises a heel portion l4, a shank portion l and a sole portion l6. The bottom section It] is conveniently molded from a plastic material to form the hollow configuration best pictured in Fig. 2. As shown therein, a pair of laterally extending ribs, including a rib H in the vicinity of the ball line of the shoe and a rib I8 in the vicinity of the heel breast line of the shoe, are molded integrally in the bottom section It. A pair of peg-receiving sockets H! are formed in the top surface of rib l1 and a pair of peg-receiving sockets are formed in the top surface of rib l8. The top edge 2| of the bottom section In intercepts a plane slanting generally from the heel to the toe of the shoe.

The foot-engaging top section or insole portion I l of the shoe is also conveniently molded of plastic and is a substantially flat piece having a smooth upper surface 25. A laterally extending groove 26 is formed in the bottom surface of the insole in the vicinity of the ball line of the I shoe. A second, laterally extending groove 21 2 is formed in the bottom surface of the shoe in the vicinity of' the heel breast line. Transversely centered in groove 26 are a pair of'pegs 30, anct transversely centered in groove 21 are a pair of pegs-3t. The edge of the insole is formed with a projecting lip- 32 about the periphery, the lips havingnotches 28 therein at the ends of groove 26 and notches 29 at the ends of groove- 21'.

The-design of the heel and-ankle strap I3 and the vamp strap 1 2 is such that both pieces may-be cut from a flat piece of material such as flexible, sheet plastic. the heeI-and-ankl'estrap l3 comprises a heelengaging portion 36 from which project-strain portions 31- which serveto engage the ankle of the foot. Depending fromthese first two portions which form; a substantially continuous striparea pair ofdepending straps-38 having a widthsubstan-tially thesame as groove 21 Holes" 39 are punched near the ends ofthe ankle-engag-- ing straps 31", and holes ware punched near the ends of the depending straps 38. The vamp strap as pictured in Fig. 6 is a long, narrow strap having a pair of holes 43 in the central portion thereof and holes 44 near the ends thereof. The central portion of the vamp strap l2 has a width substantially the same as the width of the groove 26.

The shoe is assembled by placing the central portion of the vamp strap 12 in the forward groove 25 as shown in Fig. 2., with the pegs 30 engaging the holes 43. The vamp strap is bent upwardly at the ends of the grooves to lie within the notches 2B. The heel-and-ankle strap I3 is assembled on the shoe by bending the ankleengaging portions 31 toward each other and then bending the depending straps 38 inwardly toward each other so that the bottom ends thereof abut each other. The ends are then inserted in the grooves 21, as shown in Fig. 2, with the pegs 3| engaging the holes 40. The upwardly projecting portions of the depending straps 38 pass through the notches 29 in the lip 32.

After the strap members have been engaged in the respective grooves, the entire top assembly is placed upon the bottom portion I0 of the shoe. The pegs 3| are engaged in the sockets 20 and the pegs 30 are engaged in the sockets l9. The lip 32 engages the top edge 2! of the bottom section I 0, and the bottom section It! may be permanently secured to the top section II by suitable means such as an adhesive material applied between the edge 2| and the lip 32.

The configurations of the bottom section and the top section of the shoe are relatively simple and, as observed previously, the respective parts can be readily molded from a thermoplastic or thermosetting plastic material. The parts making up the shoe are readily assembled, and an attractive shoe can be formed by suitable selections of colored plastic materials available for such purposes.

Modifications of the present invention should be readily apparent to those skilled in the art and it is to be understood that the form of my invention, herewith shown and described, is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and'that various changes in the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit of my invention or the scope.
