Description

T. KASHIAN Feb. 10, 1953 MOCCASI N AND MEANS FOR DRAWING SAME AROUND THE FOOT Filed March 29, 1950 mllzllll: '1 1 L IIHI IIHIHIIHIIJ] lmla j aZios kashzlan Patented Feb. 10, 1953 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE MOCCASIN AND MEANS FOR DRAWING SAME AROUND THE FOOT 1 Claim.
This invention relates to moccasins and more especially to moccasins of simple and inexpensive construction.
The main object of the invention is to provide moccasins of such a construction that the parts therefor may be readily cut out to the foot size of an individual buyer and then easily assembled in position and sewed together by said buyer.
Another object of the invention is to provide for the supporting of the laces for drawing the uppers of the moccasins and also the tabs there- 7 of around the ankles of the wearer.
And a further object of the invention is to provide a moccasin of said construction which will be comfortable and neat in appearance.
With other objects in view and for a full understanding of the invention, the same will be hereinafter described with reference to the accompanying drawings, and the novel features thereof will be particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
Fig. l is a side elevation of a moccasin constructed in accordance with my invention,
Fig. 2 is a plan view of Fig. 1,
Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Fig. l, and
Fig. 4 i a similar view to Fig. 3 after the lace has drawn together the collar and the tab around the angle of the wearer.
Referring to the drawings, l represents the sole of the moccasin and 2 the upper which is turned.
under at 3 and sewed to the sole at 4 as in ordinary practice. A plug 5 having turned up side edges 6 is attached to the top edge I of the upper 2 by stitches atB, andforming a part of and extending Irearwardly': ndi'upwardly from the For enclosing and finis ing thetop 'edge g'l of A the rear portion of the upper extending from one end of theplug stitches ;8 to the other and also forfproviding a tubular pas age {lll -forreceiving a lace H'is a collar l2." {The collar I2 is formedby folding over upon itself a strip I3 and stitching its downwardly extending and spaced sides'l l and I5 to the sides of the top edge 1 of the upper 2 as shown at IS. The tab 9 of the plug 5 is provided with a pair of transversely spaced openings with eyelets at" and 18. which are located inwardly of and below the open ends of the tubular passage IU of the collar 12 for receiving the ends of the lace l I in order that the action in drawing the lace through said eyelets and tying the ends thereof in a bow-knot as indicated at l9, will pull inwardly and downwardly the collar [2 and at the same time force the tab 9 rearwardly thereby drawing and fastening said collar and tab of the moccasin around the ankle of the wearer.
From the drawings and description, it is seen that various parts of the moccasin may be cut out for correct size of an individual buyer and then easily assembled and sewed together by said buyer and that the tubular collar provides a passage for concealing and supporting the lace and the free ends of the lace upon leaving said passage lead inwardly and downwardly and pass through the eyelets of the tab of the plug and may be conveniently drawn together for drawing said collar and tab around the ankle of the wearer and tied.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim is:
A moccasin having a sole and an upper, a plug attached to the upper and having a tab turned upwardly, a tubular collar fastened to said upper and having open ends opposite said tab, the tab being provided with openings arranged transversely and spaced a less distance apart than the open ends of said tubular collar and below same, and a lace passing through said collar and downwardly under said plug and upwardly through said openings of the tab for drawing said collar ,and tab around the ankle of the wearer.
TATIOS KASHIAN.
