Description

Oct. 28,1952 F. T. HILLIKER 2,615,495
CHILDS ROCKER TOY Filed March 6, 1950 INVENTOR. FRANK T. HILLIKER Patented Oct. 28, 1952 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates in general to childrens toys and, more particularly, to a rocker-toy in which a child may sit and either rock or spin around as desired.
It is the primary object of the present invention to provide a rocker-toy in which a child may sit and rock, spin, or otherwise propel himself along the floor.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a device of the type stated which is safe for children to use and will not mar or damage the floors or carpets.
It is also an object of the present invention to provide a device of the type stated which is rugged and will withstand the kind of hard usage to which children ordinarily subject toys during play.
With the above and other objects in view, my invention resides in the novel features of form, construction, arrangement, and combination of parts presently described and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a rockertoy constructed in accordance with and embodying the present invention, illustrating the manner of use thereof;
Figure 2 is a partially broken away top plan view of the rocker-toy; and
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken along line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Referring now in more detail and by reference characters to the drawing, which illustrates a of rubber or other similar resilient material.
2 It should be noted that the sheath 3 not only serves as a bumper, but affords a hand-grip for the child.
In use, the rocker-toy A is placed on the floor and a child may sit in it, as shown in Figure 1. By throwing his Weight in various directions, the child can rock back and forth or from side to side, or can spin around or can achieve any combination of motions. In fact, by proper manipulation, the child can propel himself from place to place across the floor. All of this activity, however, can be accomplished without any serious hazard of bodily injury or damage to the floors or furniture.
It should be understood that changes and modifications in the form, construction, arrangement, and combination of the several parts of the toy may be made and substituted for those herein shown and described without departing from the nature and principle of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A childs rocker-toy comprising a large bowllike element of suflicient size to permit a child to sit therein and having its upper peripheral margin encased in a relatively large rubber ring, said bowl-like element being of substantially greater wall thickness in the region of its bottom.
FRANK T. HILLIKER.
