2 Claims.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in aprons and the primary object of the present invention is to provide an article holding apron for stream fishermen and the like.
Another important object of the present invention is to provide an apron including a plurality of pockets having closure flaps that receive fishing articles such as lures, plugs, hooks, sinkers and the like in such a manner that the same are quickly and readily accessible to the wearer of the apron. v
A further object of thepresent invention is to provide an apron for fishermen that includes novel and improved harness means so that the same is applicable to fit persons of various sizes and may be adjusted to comfortably fit high on the users chest to prevent engagement of water therewith when the user is stream fishing.
A still further aim of the present invention is to provide a stream fishermans apron that is simple and practical in construction, strong and reliable in use, neat and attractive in appearance, relatively inexpensive to manufacture, and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as morefully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:
Figure l is a front elevational view of the apron embodying the present invention;
Figure 2 is a rear elevational view of Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a longitudinal horizontal sectional view taken substantially on the plane of section line 3-3 of Figure 1;
Figure 4 is a transverse vertical sectional view taken substantially on the plane of section line 4-4 of Figure 1; and,
Figure 5 is a perspective view showing the present fishermans apron in use.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, wherein for the purpose of illustration, there is disclosed a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the numeral I i! represents a substantially rectangular sheet of canvas or other suitable washable material forming the forward por tion of the present apron.
Fixedly secured to the inner face of the forward portion IE], adjacent its lower marginal edge 1 l, is a longitudinal retaining strip it? supporting snap catches I l at its terminals that engage rings It at the outer terminals of a waist belt 18 having adjustable fasteners 20.
Slidably mounted in adjacent sleeves 22 provided substantia ly at the center of the waist belt I8 is a pair of shoulder straps 24 having their upper ends 26 fixedly secured to the upper corsuitable articles such as scrapers, knives and the ners of the front portion H1. The free ends 28 of these straps adjustably engage buckles or conventional fasteners as that are slidably mounted on said strap.
Fixedly secured by stitching or the like 32 along their side edges and lower edges to the front portion [8, adjacent the upper edge 36 of the front portion, is a plurality of rectangular sheets of washabl material forming an upper group of article holding pockets 3% that are provided with female fasteners 33 which snaps engage the male fasteners it that are carried by upper flaps 42.
One edge of these flaps 42 are stitched to the forward portion as at M for cooperation of a flap with each of the upper pockets. Also secured to the forward portion by stitching along their side edges and lower edges, adjacent the lower edge ii of the front portion iii, is a pair of adjacent rectangular sheets of washable material forming the lower article receiving pockets 48 for the apron and an enlarged rectangular sheet of material forming an enlarged lower pocket 50.
These pockets s8 and 50 are provided also with male fasteners 38 that engage female fasteners 40 carried by hinged, flexible lower flaps 52 for these pockets.
Stitched along its upper and lower edges to the forward portion I0, is a sleeve 54 for engaging a book of matches or the like. I
Fixedly secured along its lower edge and side edge to the forward portion between a selected pair of the upper pockets 36, is an elongated strip 58 forming a pencil engaging pocket or the like. I
Hinged at one of its terminals to the forward portion 1 Ii adjacent and parallel to edge I l, is a bait box engaging strap 60 that is provided with a female fastener 62 that engages a male fastener \64 carried by the forward portion.
It should be noted, that in order to engage like (not shown), retaining rings 66 are pivotally mounted in bands 68 carried by the shoulder straps 24 adjacent their fixed ends 26.
In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the construction, operation and advantages of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.
It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claims, Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is: 1. A stream fishermans apron comprising a.
substantially rectangular sheet of flexible material having upper and lower edges and side edges, upper and lower pairs of pockets secured to said rectangular sheet of flexible material adjacent the side edges thereof, an elongated strap having first and second end portions, means securing the first end portion of said strap to the sheet of flexible material adjacent the lower end thereof and beneath said lower pair of pockets, a pair of shoulder straps having forward and rear ends, the forward ends of said shoulder straps being secured to said sheet of material adjacent the upper edge thereof, a waist belt, mean detachably securing the ends of the waist belt to the sheet of material adjacent the lower edge thereof, a further pair of straps secured. to said belt, and means adjustably securing the rear ends of said shoulder strap to said further straps.
2. A stream fishermans apron comprising a substantially rectangular sheet of flexible material having upper and lower edges, a retaining strip secured to the sheet of material adjacent the lower edge thereof, snap catches at the ends of said retaining strip, a waist belt, rings at the ends of said waist belt receiving said catches, a pair of shoulder straps having forward and rear end portions, the forward end portions of said shoulder straps being secured to said sheet of material adjacent the upper edge thereof, a further pair of straps having upper and lower ends, the lower ends of said further straps being secured to said waist belt, and means adjustably securing the upper ends of said further straps to the rear end portions of said shoulder straps.
