Heretofore such fishhook holders with which applicant is aware were made of a number of parts including moving parts, such as springs, making them bulky, complicated and expensive.

It is a prime object of my invention to provide a flshhook holder of this type that is made of a single piece of plastic material, is simple and compact in construction, is characterized by fewness of parts, is inexpensive to manufacture and has no moving parts to get out of order.

Another object is to provide a fishhook holder of this kind that will accommodate hooks of various sizes and snells or leaders of various lengths and. which will maintain the'snells or leaders under sufficient tension to hold them straight.

A further object is to provide a fishhook holder of this kind that will support the snelled hooks in an orderly fashion so that it may be handled freely without danger of injury to the user or the possibility of the hooks tangling on clothing or other objects with which the holder may come into contact.

A further object is to provide a holder with means for readily mounting and demounting the snelled fishhooks.

Other objects are to provide a fishhook holder that can be readily and conveniently carried in the pocket or other receptacle, is highly efficient and durable in use and is attractive in appearance, and presents a surface that cannot be snagged or pierced by the fishhooks a they are mounted and demounted.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the description thereof to follow taken in connection with the accompanying drawing in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a fishhook holder embodying my invention.

Fig. 3 is a top plan view of a blank form from which the holder is formed.

The holder as shown has an elongated body l0 formed of a substantially thin sheet of any suitable plastic material which may be transparent, translucent or opaque and if opaque may be of any suitable color. The body is substantially fiat and rectangular in shape in plan. At one end, the body is turned back on itself to form a loop II, and at the other end is turned back on itself to form a loop I 2. The free pointed ends of the finger member are directed away from the slotted end of the body. The top and bottom sides of the looped end II are spaced apart to provide a recess or compartment l5 therebetween.

Midway its ends, the body Ill is formed with flanges l6, l6 along its side edges for holding the free ends of the turned back portions. The flanges also serve to reinforce the body at such points and make it more rigid.

In applying a hook [I to the holder, the loop l8 of its snell or leader I9 is first arranged over one of the finger members l4. The shank of the hook is then grasped and the latter is moved to a position over the slotted end of the holder with which the hook is associated, and after such movement has been sui'ficient to stretch the snell or leader taut and to partially lift the finger member above the plane of the body, the pointed end of the hook is inserted through one of the slots I3 in the looped end H and engaged over the inner edge wall of said slot into protective position in space l5. The placing of the snell or leader under tension in the manner described causes it to be held taut. It also prevents entanglement of the hook with other hooks on the holder. It will also be noted that the shank of the hook is held at an angle with respect to the section of the looped end I I with which it engages. Facility in applying and removing the hook is thus ensured.

It will be noted that the holder is formed of a single piece of plastic material and is free of any moving parts. The surface of the plastic material is such that the hooks cannot snag or pierce the same. It is substantially flat and compact and can readily be carried in the pocket or in a tackle box or other receptacle.

The holder has the further advantage that it will accommodate hooks of various sizes and It has the further advantage that the hooks are supported so that their pointed ends are directed toward the center of the body and within its looped end. The holder therefore may be handled freely without danger of injury to the user or the possibility that the hooks may catch on objects with which they may come into contact.

What I claim is:

1. A plastic holder for snelled fishhooks comprising a substantially fiat body having its ends turned back on itself to form looped end portions, one looped end portion having a number of rows of spaced slots formed therein, the other looped end portion having a corresponding number of rows of out-struck finger members in alignment with the slots, and integral flanges on the sides of the body midway its ends enclosing the free edges of the looped end portions for preventing displacement of said looped end portions and for reinforcing said body portion.

2. A one-piece plastic holder for snelled fishhooks comprising a. substantially fiat body formed of a sheet of plastic material, one endof said body being turned back on itself to form a looped portion having top and bottom sides with a space therebetween, the top and bottom sides of said looped portion having rows of spaced slots formed therein, the other end of said body being turned back on itself to form a looped portion having top and bottom sides, the top and bottom sides of said latter looped portion having a number of rows of outstruck finger members formed therein in alignment with the said rows of slots, and integral flanges on the sides'of the body midway its ends enclosing the free ends of the looped end portions for preventing displacement of said looped end portions and for reinforcing said body portion.
