This invention relates to new and useful improvements in combination eye dropper and eye wash cups and the primary object of the present invention is to provide a device including means for introducing liquids into the eye for medicinal purposes and the like.

Another important object of the present invention is to provide an eye cup so designed as to provide an enlarged solution retaining area for unrestricted circulation of eye wash solutions.

Another important object of the present invention is to provide a device includin novel and improved sac means designed to eiiect a favorable pressure upon a solution in the cup upon the users eye to suit various users.

A still further aim of the present invention is to provide a combination eye dropper and eye wash cup that is simple and practical in construction, strong and reliable in use, relatively inexpensive to manufacture, and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.

Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device in use, with parts thereof broken away and shown in section; and,

Figure 2 is a perspective view of the combination eyedropper and eye wash cup.

Referring now to the drawings in detail, wherein for the purpose of illustration, there is disclosed a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the numeral represents an eye cup of preferably translucent material provided with a rim portion [2 around the lower edge thereof that fits comfortably against the eye socket. This cup may be of any suitable size and shape but must be designed to fit the eye socket to seal the eye within the cup. In the bottom of the cup is provided an aperture [4 in which is frictionally retained a resilient sleeve I6 of rubber or any other suitable material.

The bottom of the cup is also provided with a flanged portion [8 that permits convenient gripping of the body by the user.

Removably carried within the sleeve I6 is a tubular, open-ended, member 2|] provided with an annular rim 22, that is suitably secured to a rubber sac 24. This member 20 is further provided with an integral shoulder 26 that bears against sleeve l6 for correct positioning of the member in the cup.

(01. 128-233) 2 to conform to the rounded inner end of member In practical use of the device, the sac 24 and member 20 are first removed from the cup for receiving an eye wash solution. The tubular member 20 is then inserted into sleeve 16 so that shoulder 26 bears against the outer edge of the sleeve. As the sac is gripped and collapsed, the liquid solution in the sac is gradually forced through the reduced end of tube 20 and hence against the eye of the user, the desired pressure of the liquid solution being controlled by the depressing of the sac. Also the liquid may be controlled to fill the cup which can be applied to the eye socket. For use of the device as an eye dropper, the sac and member 20 are removed from the cup and used separately.

In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.

It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as described and the scope of the appended claim.

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

A combination eye dropper and eye wash cup comprising a cup portion adapted to comfortably fit the eye socket of a user and having an aperture. in the base thereof, said cup portion having a protective eye engaging beading, a resilient sleeve received in the aperture in said cup portion, an open-ended tubular sac holding member removably carried by the sleeve, a stop carried by the sac holding member for limiting and gauging the insertion of the sac holding member into the cup portion, and a removable sac carried by the sac holding member, said sac holding member including an annular concaved support embracing one end of the sac.
