` 2 Claims.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in shoe heels and has for one of its important objects to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a device of this character which is adapted to be rotatably adjusted whereby a new wearing surface may be Aconveniently brought intoposition when desired.
Another very important object of the invention is to provide a. circular shoe heel of the character described comprising a. rotatably adjustable lift which may be convenientlyv removed for replacement when necessary.
vStill another very important object of the invention is to provide a circular shoe heel comprising unique means for releasably securing the rotatable lift in adjusted position.
Other objects of the invention are to provide I a circular, rotatably adjustable shoe heel ofthe character set forth which will be comparatively simple in construction, durable, attractive in appearanceand which may be manufactured at low cost.
A11 of the foregoing and still further objects i and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of the following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein:
Figure lis a viewA in side elevation of a circular shoe heel constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a cross sectional view, taken substantially on the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a top plan view of the rotatably ad- I therein a substantially conical, radially ribbed re-V cess or depression 5. At the apex of the substan- A headed screw I0 is inserted through an opening provided therefor in the heel portion 2 of the shoeV 3 and threaded through the nuts 6 andz for securing the lift 1 in adjusted position on the body I. The head of the screw I0 iscountersunk in the shoe heel portion 2 and covered by a removable disk I I.
It is thought that the manner in which the heel functions will be readily apparent from a consideration of the'foregoing..v Briefly, with the' screw I0 tightened, the ribs on the body I and the lift l interlock and said lift is thus secured rmly in adjusted position. When it is desired to rotatably adjust the lift 1 to bring a new wearing surface into position, the screw I0 is simply loosened. To replace the lift 1, the screw I0 is screwed out of the nut 9.
It is believed that the manyv advantages of a circular shoe heel constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily understood and although a preferred embodiment is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction may be resorted to which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is:
1. A shoe heel comprising a. circular body secured beneath the lheel portion of a shoe, said body having a substantially conical recess therein, a circular lift mounted beneath the body and 'including a substantially conical projection en- ,gaged in the recess, and means rotatably and adjustably securing the lift in position beneath the body, said means including a. substantially coni- Acal nut embedded in the apex of the projection,
and a screw passing downwardly through the heel portion of the shoe -and the body and threadedly tially conical depression 5 a. conical nut 8 is elnbedded in the body I from the top thereof..
Mounted for rotary adjustment beneath the body I is s.` removable circular lift l of suitable material, preferably rubber. The lift 'I has formed on its top a substantially conical, -centrslly located, radially ribbed projection l which is engageable in the correspondingly shaped recess Iinthebody I. engaged .with said nut.
2. A shoe heel of the character described compnnngacircularboayseeuredbeneatnmemei f portion of a shoe, said body having a centrally located, substantially conical, radially ribbed recess therein, a substantially conical nut embedded inthebody at theapex ofthe recesaa lift mounted beneath the body, said lift comprising a centrally located, substantially conical, ra-
diauy ribbed projectiony engasedin the recess. a
substantially conical nut embedded in the apex portion of the projection, and a screw threadedly engaged in the nutsv for adiustably and removabiysecuringtheliftinpitionbeneathtl body, said screw includinga head countersunk Y. in the Portion of the 8h06.
