The apparatus includes a dispensing unit 3| formed of a pair of oppositely disposed outward- 1y directed upwardly inclined spaced rectangular plates 32 secured against the lower faces of the sides 33, 34 of the bottom It] by the hold-fast means 35. Formed integral with the bottom edges of the plates 32 are spaced parallel depending annular supporting members 36. Supported by the members 36 is astationary cylinder 31 formed lengthwise thereof with a pair of diametrically disposed slots 33, 39, the former constituting an intake for cylinder 31 and the latter an outlet for cylinder 31. Fixedly secured in one end of the cylinder 31 is a closure head 48 having an axially arranged opening 4|. The wall of opening 4| is threaded. Slidably mounted in the other end of the cylinder 31 is a head member 42 of circular cross-section and which provides for closing the other end of cylinder 31. The head member 42 coacts with the head 49 for measuring the quantity of the contents of the element 6 which is to be discharged. The head member 42 coacts with the head member 40 for increasing or decreasing the area of that portion of the cylinder 31 which receives the portion of the contents of element 6 to be discharged. The head member 42 has a peripheral flange 43 on its inner end, a peripheral flange 44 coacting with the flange 43 to provide a pcripheral groove 45 and a peripheral flange 46 at its outer end which is of greater diameter than the flanges 43, 44 and coacts with an end edge of cylinder 31 to constitute a stop for the inward shifting of member 42 within the cylinder 31. The head member 42 is adjusted to and from the head member 40 by a bar 41 which is secured at one end to the inner end of head member 42, and extends through the opening 4|. The bar 41 is provided with peripheral threads 48 for thread engagement with the threaded wall of the opening 4|, a stop 49 which coacts with the head 40 for limiting the inward shift of the bar 41 and a handle piece 50 on its outer end to facilitate the revolving of the bar.
Mounted in the groove 45 of the head member 42 is an annular resilient gasket 5i which engages the inner face of cylinder 31. The latter extends into the bottom I9 of the element 6 through the opening H. Revolubly mounted upon the cylinder 31 and confined between the members 36 is a sleeve 52 formed with a discharge spout 53 and a slot 54 disposed at right angles to the spout 53 for registry with the slot 38 in cylinder 31 for the purpose of establishing communication between the interior of the cylinder 31 and the element 6. The sleeve 52 controls the intake to cylinder 31. The spout 53 controls the discharge from cylinder 31. The sleeve 52 extends into the element 6 through the opening When material is to be dispensed from the element 6 the sleeve 52 is shifted to bring the slot 54 into registry with slot 38 and also for the purpose of closing slot 39 and when the sleeve 52 is in such a position the spout 53 is disposed at right angles to the slots 38, 39. After the cylinder 31 has been filled with the material to be dispensed, the sleeve 52 is shifted to close the slot 38, such as shown in Figure 2 and with the slot 54 closed by cylinder 31. When slot 38 is closed by sleeve 52 the spout 53 will be shifted to the position shown in Figure 2 whereby slot 39 will be opened and the material discharged from cylinder 31 into the spout 53. To again fill cylinder 31 it will be necessary to shift the sleeve 52 to the position shown in Figure 5.
The closure 24 when in closing position with respect to the element 6 couples the latter with the element I1 in the position as shown in full lines in Figure 2 and prevents the tilting of element 6. When the closure 24 is shifted upwardly to opened position it permits the element 6 to assume the dotted line position shown in Figure 2 and when in such position the element 6 may be supplied with any suitable material from its open upper end.
What I claim is:
1. In a dispensing apparatus a supporting element including a vertical section, an open top hopper-like material container element at the front of the said section, a dispensing unit at the bottom of the container element, said container element and vertical section having inherent superimposed coacting parts to provide for the suspension and tilting of the container element relative to the supporting element, and said supporting element including a shiftable combined closure and retainer hinged at its rear to said section for engaging with the container element to close its open upper end when non-tilted and for detachably retaining the container element in non-tilted position.
2. In a dispensing apparatus an upstanding supporting element having a rod disposed transversely of and intermediate its ends, an open top hopper-like material container element having depending inverted L-shaped spaced parallel parts near the lower end of its back for fulcruming on said bar to provide a suspension for and to permit of the container element tilting forwardly relative to the supporting element, and said supporting element including a shiftable part hinged at its rear for engaging with the container element to close its open upper end and for detachably retaining the container element in non-tilted position.
3. In a dispensing apparatus, an open top hopper-like material container structure, a support formed of a vertical and a horizontal section ex- 7 tending forwardly at-right angles to the lower end of the vertical section, said horizontal section providing a base for the support, said structure arranged over said horizontal section and forwardly of said vertical section, said support being provided at the upper end of said vertical section with a forwardly extending hinged closure for the open top of said structure, said closure when in closing position for said structure maintaining the latter parallel to said vertical section, and said structure and vertical section having coacting superimposed parts for suspending the structure over and above said horizontal section and to provide for the tilting of said structure relative to said vertical section when the hinged closure is free of said structure.
4. In a dispensing apparatus an open top upstanding hopper-like material container structure provided at its rear and in proximity to its bottom with a pair of spaced depending inverted L-shaped rearwardly offset tongues, and a skeleton support including a vertical section formed transversely thereof with a rod, said tongues being shiftably mounted in superimposed relations on said rod and depending therefrom, said tongues and bar coacting to suspend said structure from said support and provide for the tilting of said structure relative to said support, and
said support including a closure hinged at its rear to the upper end of said section and capable of engaging with said structure for closing the open top of the latter and when engaged with the upstanding skeleton hanger section and a forwardly extending base section, said hanger section being formed of a pair of vertical, spaced parallel side members free of connection to each other at their upper ends, a shiftable closure for the open top of said structure, a pivot supported by and at the upper ends of said members, said closure having means at its rear for shiftably connecting it to said pivot, said members and structure having superimposed coacting parts for suspending the structure over and spaced above said base section and to provide for the tilting of said structure relative tosaid hanger section, and said closure when in closing position relative to the open top of said structure preventing the tilting of the latter relative to the hanger section.
