Abstract

Doggydock Ramp having a 2 piece frame with a pivot point between the 2 pieces and with water resistant laminate or other means of waterproofing Covered with a non-slip surface consisting of marine grade carpet on the surface that the dog walks on. The underside that is submerged in water has stainless steel snaps that allow a snap bag attachment for floatation. The snaps are positioned in several locations allowing for adjustment of the floatation bag to accommodate different weight dogs. With flexible material mounted on the frame. The Doggydock Ramp is intended to be inclined against the edge of a boat dock, boat plat form or pool deck and affixed to the dock at the top piece that has a cut out that allows the piece to slip over the docks cleat. The part of the ramp or doggydock that is inclined into the water is attached to the top piece that is secured by the boat cleat with a heavy-duty 3″ stainless steel hinge.

Description

  • The DOGGYDOCK is constructed in 2 pieces and designed so that the upper piece is fixed on to a dock or platform and the lower piece adjusts to a proper angle that allows the dog to climb out of the water on to solid surface. The angle of the dock is determined by the position of the floatation underneath the board. The heavier the dog the closer to the end that the floatation is positioned. For extra heavy dogs additional floatation or buoys are attached to the end of the DOGGYDOCK.
  • A DOGGYDOCK is a Self-adjustable portable marine ramp for dogs that allows dogs to get in and out of the water on to a higher level solid surface. Specifically it allows them to reach the top of a boat dock, boat platform or swimming Pool.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • Doggydock Ramp having a 2 piece frames with a pivot point between the 2 pieces and with water resistant laminate or other means of waterproofing Covered with a non-slip surface consisting of marine grade carpet on the surface that the dog walks on. The underside that is submerged in water has stainless steel snaps that allow a snap bag attachment for floatation. positioned in several locations allowing for automatic adjustment of weight
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Household pets, such as dogs, can often enjoy swimming and working in and around water. However, dogs lacking the structural anatomy of humans cannot pull themselves from one level to another with out exerting force from their rear legs. This poses impossibility since water lacks the density to support such force. Unfortunately hundreds of dogs drown each year because they will exhaust themselves swimming if they don't have a means to exit the water, especially if unnoticed by caretakers or others.
  • FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The invention relates generally to gangways for movement of animals in and out of the water. More specifically, the invention relates to a ramp for allowing dogs to get out of the water on to a boat dock or other hard surface when there is no shoreline available.
  • The foregoing and other objects and advantages will become apparent to those skilled in the art upon reading the detailed description of the invention in conjunction with a review of the appended drawings, wherein:
  • FIG. 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D is a perspective view of a DOGGYDOCKS components according to the invention;
  • FIG. 4A is a plan view of the cleat cut out for the doggydocks ramp according to the present invention;
  • FIG. 5A, 5B, 5C, 5D is a perspective view of the components as they relate to the invention as a unit.
  • FIG. 8 is a top view of material used in construction of a pet ramp according to the invention;
  • FIG. 9A is a view of the adjustable floatation as in FIG. 2F, where it snaps on the back of the board

Claims (1)

1. A Doggydock Ramp for assisting animals in climbing in and out of the water to a higher surface by means of an adjustable ramp, comprising:
1. A ramp as in claim 4 wherein said floatation bag is an integral part of the Doggydock Ramp when secured on the back of the board.
