Abstract
A computer host casing includes a first side board on the left side wall and a second side board on the right side wall and a plurality of connection members fastening to computer host side walls by riveting. The first and second side boards have respectively latch elements located thereon. The latch elements may be moved by hands to latch on latch troughs formed on the side walls of the computer host thereby to facilitate fast assembly, and also provide conveniences for hand carrying and resting on the floor.
Description
- The present invention relates to a computer host casing and particularly to a casing structure for portable computers that provides fast assembly and disassembly.
- Conventional computer host generally has a rectangular casing for resting on the desktop or on the floor. For moving the computer, users have to hold the casing with two hands. As the computer host is quite heavy, users have to squat to hold the computer standing on the floor with two hands. Since the conventional computer host casing does not have handle for grasping, it is not convenient to move for transportation or carrying.
- Moreover, some users often have the computer host directly standing on floor. The metal casing is easily rusted due to the damp condition of the floor. The electronic elements in the computer host also tend to adsorb moisture and may result in malfunction. Some users try to pad the computer host with a wooden board or the like. However the computer host and the padding wooden board have to be removed when the floor is cleaned. And the computer host has to be moved back to its original position after the cleaning is finished. It is troublesome.
- The primary object of the invention is to provide a computer host casing that includes a first side board and a second side board located respectively on a left side and a right side and four connection members connecting four corners of the first and second side boards. The two side boards are wedged with coupling elements which are movable by fingers. The coupling elements may be latched on the side walls of the computer host. The casing thus formed has fewer elements and may be assembled quickly. It also may be carried easily by hands for moving. The computer host also may be placed on the floor without damping.
- The foregoing, as well as additional objects, features and advantages of the invention will be more readily apparent from the following detailed description, which proceeds with reference to the accompanying drawings.

FIGS. 1 and 2 , the computer host casing according to the invention includes: -
- a
first side board 10 located on a left side wall of acomputer host 1. Thefirst side board 10 is substantially a square plate with four sides each having a firstarched edge 11 indented inwards. Two neighboring firstarched edges 11 form afirst extension plate 12 therebetween at an angle of 45°. There is a first elliptic andindented port 13 formed on thefirst extension plate 12. The firstindented port 13 has afirst slot 131 inclined at 45°; - a
second side board 20 located on a right side wall of thecomputer host 1 that has the same shape and structure as thefirst side board 10 to correspond to thefirst side board 10. It also has four sides each having a secondarched edge 21 indented inwards. Two neighboring secondarched edges 21 form asecond extension plate 22 therebwteen at an angle of 45°. There is a second elliptic andindented port 23 formed on thesecond extension plate 22. The secondindented port 23 has asecond slot 231 inclined at 45°; - four.
connection members 30 for connecting four corners of the first andsecond side boards wing plate 31 to become a U-shaped plate. Thewing plate 31 may be fastened to aside wall 2 of thecomputer host 1 through two fastening elements 32 (such as rivets). The inner side of theconnection member 30 is bent to match thearched edges second side boards handle 33 between the twowing plates 31 for hand grasping (or pedestal for resting on the floor); and - eight coupling elements 40 (referring to
FIG. 3A ). Four of them are movably mounted on the firstindented ports 13 of thefirst side board 10, and other four are movably mounted on the secondindented ports 23 of thesecond side board 20. Eachcoupling element 40 includes alatch member 41 which has fourstruts 42 on the rear wall thereof. Two of thestruts 42 have respectively ascrew hole 421. The fourstruts 42 run though thefirst slot 131 of the first indented port 13 (or thesecond slot 231 of the second indented port 23). An elongated slidingmember 43 is mounted on an inner wall of thefirst side board 10 corresponding to the first indented port 13 (or on the inner wall of thesecond side board 20 corresponding to the second indented port 23). It has one end forming a coupling end with fourapertures 431 formed thereon corresponding to the fourstruts 42 of thelatch member 41. Two of theapertures 431 may be engaged respectively with ascrew 432 to couple with thescrew hole 421 of thestruts 42 to fasten the slidingmember 43 to thelatch member 41 so that thelatch member 41 can move the slidingmember 43 concurrently upwards (or downwards). The slidingmember 43 has other end forming a carved andarched groove 45 to become a movable end to provide an elastic compression. The movable end has a bulgedlatch spot 44 on an inner side to engage with alatch trough 3 formed on theside wall 2 of thecomputer host 1.

- Referring to
FIGS. 3B and 3C , when in use for assembly, thelatch members 41 on the first andsecond side boards latch spots 44 in thelatch troughs 3 on two side walls of thecomputer host 1 so that the first andsecond side boards computer host 1. For disassembly, move thelatch members 41 inverse outwards to separate from thelatch troughs 3, then the first andsecond side boards connection members 30 on the upper side at the front and rear ends may serve as handles to be grasped by user's hands for lifting and moving. The other twoconnection members 30 on the bottom at the front end and rear end may serve as pedestals resting on the floor to prevent thecomputer host 1 from damping and damaged.
Claims (5)
1. A computer host casing comprising a first side board, a second side board and a plurality of connection members for coupling the first side board and the second side board, the connection members being fastened respectively to a left side wall and a right side wall of a computer host, the first side board and the second side board having respectively a plurality of coupling elements located thereon, each coupling element including a latch member located on an outer side of one of four corners of the first and the second side boards to run through the first and the second side board to fasten to a sliding member located on an inner side of the first and the second side boards, the sliding member having an elastic latch spot movable to wedge in a latch trough formed on the computer host.

The computer host casing of claim 1 , wherein the first side board and the second side board are substantially formed in a rectangular shape with four sides, each of the four sides having an indented and arched edge, the side boards between two neighboring arched edges forming an extension plate at an angle of 45° that has an indented port formed thereon in parallel with the extension plate, the indented port having a slot inclined at 45°, the latch member having a plurality of struts on an inner side running through the slot, two of the struts having respectively a screw hole in the center to engage with a screw which runs through an aperture formed on the sliding member for fastening the sliding member to the latch member.
3. The computer host casing of claim 2 , wherein the indented port is elliptic, the latch member being formed in a shape matching the indented port and movable in a biased manner in the indented port.
4. The computer host casing of claim 1 , wherein the four connection members are riveted to a left side wall and a right side wall of the computer host.
5. The computer host casing of claim 1 , wherein each of the connection members is formed in U-shape and has a wing plate on each of two sides, the wing plate having a lower end extended upwards from the arched edge of the first and the second side boards to an inner edge of the connection member, the two wing plates forming a handle therebetween to be grasped by hands.
