Abstract
A backrest includes an endless main frame having a groove defined in a side thereof and extending along an entire length thereof. The groove is delimited by a bottom wall and an inner peripheral wall having an endless end face. A mesh is fixed to the endless end face of the inner peripheral wall delimiting the groove. A decorative frame is mounted to the side of the endless main frame and covers the groove and the endless end face of the main frame. A covering member covers the decorative frame. An aesthetically pleasing appearance is thus provided. Further, the decoration effect can be improved by the decorative frame and the covering member.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a backrest assembly. In particular, the present invention relates to a backrest assembly with a mesh for ventilation purposes.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- FIG. 6 of the drawings illustrates a conventional chair backrest including a substantially
rectangular frame 1′ and amesh 2′ wrapped around theframe 1′. Theframe 1′ is made of metal for supporting the weight of the user lying in the chair. Themesh 2′ provides a ventilation effect for the back of the user lying in the chair. However, theframe 1′ can be viewed through themesh 2′ and thus fails to provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance. Further, theframe 1′ and themesh 2′ are fixed and thus could not provide assembling diversity. - An object of the present invention is to provide a backrest with improved assembling diversity.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a backrest with improved aesthetically pleasing appearance.
- A backrest in accordance with the present invention includes an endless main frame having a groove defined in a side thereof and extending along an entire length thereof.
- In an embodiment of the invention, the bottom wall delimiting the groove has a plurality of fixing holes defined therein. The decorative frame has a plurality of holes. A plurality of fasteners respectively extend through the holes of the decorative frame and the fixing holes of the bottom wall delimiting the groove.
- Other objects, advantages, and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
- FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a backrest in accordance with the present invention.
- FIG. 2 is an elevational view of a semi-product of the backrest in accordance with the present invention.
- FIG. 3 is a sectional view, in an enlarged scale, of a portion of the backrest in accordance with the present invention.
- FIG. 4 is an elevational view of the backrest in accordance with the present invention after assembly.
- FIG. 5 is a sectional view of the backrest in FIG. 4.
- FIG. 6 is a perspective view of a conventional backrest.
- FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a backrest in accordance with the present invention. FIG. 2 is an elevational view of a semi-product of the backrest in accordance with the present invention. FIG. 3 is a sectional view, in an enlarged scale, of a portion of the backrest in accordance with the present invention. FIG. 4 is an elevational view of the backrest in accordance with the present invention after assembly. FIG. 5 is a sectional view of the backrest in FIG. 4.
- The backrest in accordance with the present invention generally comprises a
main frame 1, amesh 2, adecorative frame 3, and a coveringmember 4. Themain frame 1 is an endless frame (e.g., rectangular, circular, etc.) of proper strength. Themain frame 1 includes a channel or groove 111 defined in a side thereof and extending along the entire length of the endless frame. A bottom wall delimiting the groove 111 has a plurality offixing holes 12 defined therein. The groove 111 is also delimited by an inner peripheral wall having anendless end face 13. Theendless end face 13 is thick enough to receive a fastener such as a nail. - Referring to FIG. 2, the
mesh 2 is fixed by fasteners 21 (such as nails) to theendless end face 13 of the inner peripheral wall delimiting thegroove 11. Thedecorative frame 3 is mounted to the side of themain frame 1 to cover thegroove 11 and theendless end face 13 of themain frame 1, as shown in FIG. 3. Thedecorative frame 3 includes a plurality ofholes 31, and fasteners 14 (such as bolts) are extended through theholes 31 of thedecorative frame 3 and thefixing holes 12 of themain frame 1. The coveringmember 4 covers or envelopes thedecorative frame 3. - As illustrated in FIGS. 3 through 5, in assembly, the covering
member 4 and thedecorative frame 3 are assembled together, and thedecorative frame 3 is then mounted to themain frame 1 to cover the joint area between themain frame 1 and themesh 2. An aesthetically pleasing appearance is thus provided. Further, the decoration effect can be improved by thedecorative frame 3 and the coveringmember 4. - The shape of the
decorative frame 3 and the pattern on an outer surface of the coveringmember 4 can be altered according to need. Thus, the assembling diversity of the backrest is improved. - Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
