INFANTS snon' Application filed April 23,
This invention relates to a shoe, moccasin or slipper, primarily adapted for infants wear. Y A particular object is to provide a novel construction capable of manufacture in a single piece, aside from the fastenings, of leather, fabric or other preferred flexible material. V
' It is further aimed to provide such a con structionas may be produced expeditiously and at minimum cost.
The more specific objects and advantages will become apparent from a consideration of the description following taken in connection with accompanying drawings illustrating an operative embodiment, and where- 1n v Figure 1 is a view in side elevation of the shoe F i gure2 is a front view thereof,
Figure 8 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line 33 of Figure 2,
Figure 4 is a cross sectional view taken on the line H of Figure 1,
Figure 5 is a cross sectional view taken on the line 5 5 of Figure 1,
Figure 6 is a plan view of a sole blank which may be used,
Figure 7 is a plan view of the blank of the shoe I Fi gureS is a side elevation of a modified form, I
Figure 9 is a central vertical sectionalview through the form of Figure 8, I
Figure 10 is a fragmentary front elevation of the shoe of Figure 8, and
Figure 11 is a plan view of the shoe of Figure 8 in unfolded or blank form.
Referring first to the form-of the invention, disclosed in Figures 1 to 7, the shoe, moccasin or slipper may be made from a single sheet of flexible material 10, such as leather, fabric or the equivalent. The blank shown in Figure 7 has side portions 11, shown slightly at diverging angles, leading from the main portion 12, which is enlarged at the front as at 13 and has a tongue 14 extending therefrom. The main portion 12 in line with the tongue but at the reverse edge, is notched or severed I tions means are provided and portion 13, for instance sections 20 and along line 15, to provide an insert 16 and edge portions 17.
In the formation of the shoe, the blankof Figure 7 is folded so that theportionsll are arranged'opposite each other and such porare secured together at their rear edges by inter-engaging snap fastener means consisting of sections 18 and 19, rear edges of such portions. When such fastenings 1819 are secured together, the insert 16 is located interiorly of the shoe.
At the forward edge, separable fastening between the tongue 14 21 thereon, adapted to detachablyinterengage, to form the toe portion. Theforward edgesof the portions 11 have openings 22 in Figures 8 to 11. In this form, therear edge of the blank designated 10, is adapted to be provided with buttons at 18 and holes at 19, to take the place of the separable fasteners 18-19, an insert 16, being provided inplace of the insert 16. At the forward edge, holes 22 are provided along the edges ofthe side members 11, which openings alone are adapted to receive a lace 24. The forward enlarged portion 13, in the present instance, has a tongue 14 extending forwardly from it. Such tongue 14 has a button 27 thereon while the portion 13 has buttons thereon at28, the opposite side of the portion 13 as at 13, having button-holes 29.
In the format-ion of the shoe from the blank of Figure 11, button 27 is engaged in one of the button-holes 29 and the buttons 28 are carried by the engaged in the other button-holes 29. Part 16 extends within theshoe and the buttons and button-holes l8 and 19" are engaged and the lace 24 is applied to the holes 22.
Various changes may beresorted to provided they fall within the spirit and scope of the invention. '5
' v stantially straight rear edges, an enlarged forward'portion, a tongue extending from r the enlarged forward portion, means to sepa rably secure the rear edges of the side'portions together, means to separably secure the front edges of the side portions, the enlarged forward portion and the tongue together, I v 1- A said blank being slit inwardly from said rear edges to provide a tongue centrally .at'ithe, q :11:
