Description

ART CORNER June 14, 1932.
Filed April 24. 1931 i" ,z Z g Z [7 ZZ/7 INVENTOR.
afm@ Mu Cb.
HIS ATTORNEYS,
Patented June 14, 1932 -UNI TE D S TA' T S ADOLPH WOERNER, JR., OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS ART CORNER Application filed April 24, 1931.
rl`his invention relates to certain novel improvements in corner mounts, and has for its principal object the provision of an improved construction of this character which will be highly eiieient in use and economical in manufacture.
It is an object of this invention to provide an improved corner mount.
Itis another object of the invention to provide a corner mount embodying a pocket in which adhesive is so arranged that the user may moisten the corner of a photograph or like object, and insert the corner into the pocket wherein itwill be held, and prevented against withdrawal therefrom, by the adhesive.
It is another object of the invention to provide an improved corner mount embodying a pocket formed by an upper and lower 20 tab, and to provide a tongue on the lower tab which has adhesive so arranged thereon that by turning up the outer end of the tongue a corner of an object such, for eXample, as a photograph may be secured thereto.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawing, showing the preferred form of construction, and in which:
Fig. 1 is a top plan view of a preferred construction of the invention and shown associated with a photograph;
Fig. 2 is a sectional view on line 2-2 in Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the corner mount as shown in Figs. 1 and 2;
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the bottom of the lower tab of the corner mount shown in Figs. 1 to 3;
Fig. 4a is a perspective view of the bottom of the upper tab of the corner mount shown in Figs. 1 to 3;
Serial N0. 532,671.
Fig. 5 is a perspective `view of a modification of the invention; A
Fig. 6 'is a perspectiveview of a corner mount having the sameV construction asfthat s'ho'wn'in Fig. 5, but of a different design;
Fig'. 7 is a top plan View illustrating fthe manner of vusing the modifi-cation of the invention shown in Fig. '9; i i
Fig. 8 is a sectional view online S-S'in Fig.7;and
Fi-g. '9'is a perspective A'view fof :a modificationV of the invention. A
In the :drawing,'which illustrates pfra'ctica'l embodiments of the invention, l'and referring now particularly to'Fi-gs. 1 to La leaf 'of yanv album is shown at 10, by way of illustra-tion, and 5a photograph 11; the latter tobereferredto hereinafterfa-s-anarticle. The pres ent invention provides an improved k'corner mount, indicated generally at 12, anticomprising a lower tab 13 and an upper tab 141'V that is adhesively secured, along'itsb'ord'er 15, to the lower tab 13, as vindicated `at 16. That part of the lupper tab 14; within thev bor` der 15 is raised from the border 13, as':i-`1'1d-i cated at 22, so as to provide with-the lower tab'13, a pocket 17 into which a corner A21 of the article 11 may be inserted. f
To provide greater assurance that the corner will `be secured -permanently in place, the f lower Ytab 13 has a tongue l18 and *the tab 13 and its tongue 18 `have adhesive 19 -on the bottom thereof, the tab 13 .and its tongue 18 thereby providing eadequatesurface adhesive area to assure a nm mounting of the corner.
The raised portion 22 of 'the` upper tab 14 has a coat 20 of adhesive. Therefore, the corner 21 of the article 11 may -be moistened and inserted into the pocket 17 wherein the moistened corner 21 will adhere to the .adhesive 2O and thereby secure lthe Varticle 11 in position.
The modification 'illustrated in Fig. 5 is identical Vto the construction of the invention shown in Figs. 1 to 4, except that the design of the upper tab 14 is different and that the tongue 18 of the lower tab is shorter. The modification shown in Fig. (3 is identical to that of Figs. 1 to 4 except that the border design of the tabs is different. However, the reference numerals applied to the corner mount illustrated in Figs. 1 to 4 will likewise be applied to corresponding parts in the modifications of Figs. 5 and 6.
In Figs. 7, 8 and 9 another modificationpf the invention is illustrated and generally indicatedv at 12', and parts therein similar to those in the form of the invention already described will be given similar reference numerals, primed. In this form of the invention, no adhesive coating is provided on the underside of the raised portion 22 of top tab 14, though border 15 of the upper tab 14 is secured to the lower tab by adhesive 16', and a pocket 17 is thus provided for the re ception of the corner 21 of the article 11. The lower tab 13 and Vits tongue 18 have an adhesive coat or layer 19 on the bottom thereof, and in use this tongue 18 is bent back upon itself at its outer end, as indicated at 23. Therefore, by moistening either the article 11 or the adhesive 19 on part 23 of tongue 18 the article 11 may be secured thereto, as in Fig. 8.
From the foregoing description it will be seen. therefore, that the invention provides an improved corner mount and one which will more effectively secure an article in position than will the corner mounts of the prior art.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect. this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore. do not wish to be limited to the preci se details of construction set forth. but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described mv invention. what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
1. Corner mount comprising an upper and a lower tab bot-h having all their marginal edges except one adhesively secured together providing a pocket therebetween for the reception of a portion of an article, and an adhesive on the bottom side of said upper tab for securing said portion in said pocket.
2. Corner mount comprising an upper tab including a border and a lower tab adhesively secured to said upper tab along all sides of said border except one, a part of said upper tab being raised above said border to provide with said lower tab a pocket having an open side for the reception of a portion of an article, and an adhesive on the underside of said raised part for securing said article portion in said pocket.
3. A corner mount comprising an upper tab including a border and a part raised above said border, a lower tab of greater area than the upper tab, an adhesive securing the lower tab to the upper tab along all sides of said border except one, said tabs thus defining a pocket therebetween having an open end for the reception of the corner of an article, and an adhesive on the bottom side of the lower tab to secure the mount to a surface.
In testimony whereof I aliix my signature.
