This invention relates lto containers, and has particular reference to a toothbrush case.
At the present time, it is the general pracice to hang toothbrushes openly on racks in bathrooms or to `place the same in the medicine cabinet. Obviously, this'practice is unsanitary and subjects the bristles to dust, dirt,
germs and other foreign matter which is detrimental to the health of the user.
individual toothbrush case which includes means constituting a part of the case for containing and disposing an antiseptic sterilizing medium or germicide alongside of the 35 bristles whereby to shield and maintain the brushin a highly sanitary condition at all times. y
More specifically, the invention comprehends an individual toothbrush case including a longitudinally split hollow body delining a pair vof sections which are relatively movable to an open position for the purpose of inserting or removing a toothbrush,l and in which sections pockets are formed in the walls adjacent one end thereofA for receiving Y a pad adapted to contain a germicide or antiseptic sterilizing solution.
Other objects of the invention reside in the simplicity of construction of the case, the 3o the general efficiency derived therefrom.
With the above recited and other objects in View, reference is had to the following de- 25 scription and accompanying drawings, in
bodiment of the invention, while the claims define the actual scope ofthe same.
In the drawingso Figure 1 is a perspective view of a toothl brush case constructed in accordance with the invention, illustrating the same suspended from a supporting rack..
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view indicated at 2 2 in Figure 3. Y
Figure 3 is asimilar sectional view taken approximately on the line indicatedvat 3 3 in Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a transverse sectional View The present invention comprehends any economy with which it may be produced and which there is exhibited one example or em-y therethrough taken approximately on the line taken approximately on ythe line indicated at l-4; in Figure 2. Y
' Referring tothe drawings by characters of reference, the case'is constructed of a longitudinally split hollow body defining a` pair of sections 10 and f11" which are preferably hinged together at`12 at one sidewhereby the sections may be relatively moved tol an open position to insertor remove thetooth'- brush therefrom. f The sections are also-pro vided with suitable means, `such-.as clips 13, for locking .theisections in closed mating relation. Adjacent one end 14, each section is or" alrelatively greater vwidth sorthat thesa-id end Y accommodates ythe "{bristlef yend of `the toothbrush. At this end, the side' walls:A are suitably. formed with pockets 15 whichopen to the interiorof the case and whichare de"F signed to accommodate pads .16- saturated with a germicide or antiseptic sterilizing so*- lution. The pockets are'preferably formed by applying to the'exteri'o'r of thersid'e ywalls the jackets 17 which coincidewith open-ings 18 in the side walls, which' openings =18are of slightly lesser area thanfthe jackets so `as to definethe flanges 19 which-retain the pads 16 in place.- At onei'end, theopenings 18 are'vof increased width-asiat 20,fwhichwifdth coincides approximately with the ltransverse .dimension of the jacket k17. AAt the said end, thejacket is formed with lan inclined wall'21 sothat an entrance Vmouth is defined, by'vir- -tue of which insertion and-removal'of the pad V16 is facilitated. In order- Tto.v afford means for, suspending the case either from a rack R having the u'sual'notchesiN `orl from a nail or'hook, one .ofthe sections is `formed v vwith a suspension lug 22 having Y'an apergermicide or antiseptic sterilizing solution H'.
will tend to counteract this odor, in addition to performing its usual function. It may also be observed that the case, in addition to its ordinary use in the home, constitutes an ideal container for a toothbrush when traveling which permits of the carrying of the brush'either ,inthe pocket or in the baggag of the user. y
What is claimed is: Y l. An individual toothbrush caseincluding a pair of hingedly connected casing sections each having a corresponding relatively wider end for theaccommodation of the bristle end of the toothbrush and apocket vformed Iin one of said Wider ends opening through and disposed alongside of the point at which ,the
bristles of the brush are positioned, for receiving and holding an absorbent padftor an antiseptic sterilizing medium.
2. An individual toothbrushcase including a longitudinally split hollow body deiining a pair offsections relatively movable to an open'position for inserting and removing the toothbrush and a pocket formed in the wall of one of said sections adjacent. onezend therelof, tor receiving a pad adapted to contain -an antiseptic sterilizlng medium.Y
3. Anfindividualtoothbrush case including a pair of mating lhollow sections defining a closed hollow body having an end of restricted cross sectional area to accommodate thehandle of al toothbrush and an end of larger cross sectional area to accommodate the bristle endof a toothbrush, said body at its larger end having a pocket in the wall thereof disposed alongsidefof the `point where the bristle end of .the brush is `positionedand communicating with the interior'oil .the case, saidpocket adapted to receive a pad containing an antisepticsterilizing medium.
4. An individual toothbrush case including a pair of mating holl-ow sections defining a closed hollow body having an end .of restricted cross sectional area to accommodate the handle of a toothbrush and an end ofv larger crosswsectional-area to accommodate the bristle end of a toothbrush, said body at its larger endhaving a pocket in the wall thereof disposed alongside of the point where lthe bristle end of the brush is positioned and communicating with the interior of'thei'case, said pocket adapted to receive a pad containing an antiseptic sterilizing medi-um, said pocket being formed at oneend with relatively wider entrance mouth opening into'the case for facilitating the i insertion and revnuoval of the pad.
