This invention relates to a refuse receptacle and more particularly to a manually operable lid controlled refuse can storage' tacle having associated therewith ya hinged closure member or lid and means associated with said closure member or lid for open-` ing the same withouthand contact therewith by including a manuallyoperable foot controlled lever member `for transmitting l movement to the. closure member or lid for i from metal stampings, bent metal straps of substantially standard size and form of design, the parts permitting of quick and simple assem ly from the component parts constituting the construction.

It is still further contemplated to provide a refuse 'receptacle and a manuallyoperable closure member or lid therefor in hinged relation and a base foi-the receptacle serving as the means to mount motion transmitting levers for the closure member or lid having bearings and guides in said base,v economy and low cost of production being effected by simplicity of design and construction, at the same time providing structure permitting facile and quick assembly without vspecial tools, jigs or the like.

To attain these objects and such further objects as may appear herein or be hereinafter pointed out, I make reference to the My invention still further accompanying drawing :forming part hereof in which:

Making reference to the drawings, it will be observed that my device comprises generally a main housing or receptacle 10, mountedupOn a base 11 and provided with a closure or lid 12, hingedly connected to the housing. A hinged connection ,is` obtained by the bracket 13 being connected to the body 1G by rivets 14.5, or other suitable connections., .such as spot welding, solder or the lile.- he bracket 13 is formed with pintle members 15,"wl1ich` engage theV arm 16 at- `tached to the lid fat 17 in the lugs 18 through the orifices 19 therein provided. The arm 1G has an extension portion 20, the end thereof having downwardly `formed ears orlugs 21 and orifices 22 through which is passed a pin 23. The housing l() is mounted on a base 11, the latter comprisingstraps 24 and 25 in the form of Isubstantially inverted U-shaped members having the bases thereof 26 and 27 intersecting and contacting at 28, with the legs 29, 30, 31 and 32 at right angles to each other. The upper portions of the straps 2/-1 and 25 are provided with olfset portions 33, serving as brace members for the bottom oi' the housing 10, which engages the upwardly disposed portion 34.

The leg 30 is provided with a guiding .slot 35, through which projects the strap 36.
