DISILAY DEVICE.
7 Application filed January 28, .1926.
This invention relates to display devices and has for its object to provide a device of the character specified, simple in construction and assemblage and etficient in operation. To these ends my improvements comprise features illustrated in their preferred embodiment in the drawing accompanying this specification, wherein:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device in erected condition. Fig. 2 is an end elevation with the end wings in the plane of the upright central member and Fig. 3 is a reverse plan view of the blank which is folded to produce the display of Figs. 1 and 2. Figs. 1 and 3 are to about the same scale, while Fig. 2 is to a larger scale.
Referring now more particularly to the dra ing my improved display device comprises upright member 2 of rectangular shape, to the opposite vertical edges 3, t of which may be articulated opposite display panels 5, 6 respectively, preferably having their lower edges 7, 8 in line with the lower edge 9 of said member 2 and their upper edges 10, 11 extending above the upper edge of member 2. While I prefer to employ said display panels 5, 6, in some cases they may be omitted without detracting from the efficiency of the device.
Articulated to the upper edge 12 of said upright member 2 is forwardly folding member 13 and articulated to the forward edge 14- of member 13 is upwardly reaching member 15 which represents the front wall of the container. Articulated to the upper edge 16 of member 15 is backwardly folding top member 17 on which may be printed or otherwise displayed a representation of merchandise, such as nuts or candy 18.
To each opposite lateral edge of top member 17, as left hand edge 19, Fig. 3, is articulated a downwardly folding wing as 20. Said wing 20 is provided with means for engaging upright member 2, such for instance, as slot 21, adapted to straddle the upright edge of said member 2 and said wing 20 may be provided with foot 22 extending downwardly behind upright member 2 and terminating in the plane of the lower edge 9 of said member 2 and of lower edges 7, 8 of display panels 5, 6.
There is thus provided a simple and efficieut display representing a filled merchan- Serial No. 83,790.
dise container supported in raised relation to the upright member.
I claim:
1. A display device representing a. merchandise container including in combination an upright member, a forwardly folding member articulated to the top edge of said upright member, an upwardly reaching member articulated to the forward edge of said forwardly folding member, a backwardly folding top member articulated to the upper edge of said upwardly reaching member and opposite downwardly folding wings articulated to opposite side edges of said back wardly folding top member, said top member extending over and to the rear of said upright member, said opposite wings having means for engaging said upright member.
2. A display device representing a merchandise container including in combination an uprightmember, a forwardly folding member articulated along a horizontal line to the top edge of said upright memher, an upwardly reaching member articulated to the forward edge of said forwardly folding member, a backwardly folding top member articulated to the upper edge of said upwardly reaching member and opposite downwardly folding wings articulated to opposite side edges of said back vardly folding top member, said top member extending over and to the rear of said upright memher, said opposite wings having means for engaging said upright member and having feet extending downwardly behind said upright member. I
3. A display device representing a merchandise container including in combination an upright member, a forwardly folding member articulated to the top edge of said upright member, opposite display panels articulated along vertical lines to opposite edges of said upright member, an upwardly reaching member articulated to the forward edge of said forwardly folding member, a backwardly folding top member articulated to the upper edge of said upwardly reaching member and opposite downwardly folding wings articulated to opposite side edges of said backwardly folding top member, said top member extending over and to the rear of said upright member, saidopposite wings having means for engaging said upright member.
Ice
4. A display device representing a merchandise container including in combination an upright member, a forwardly folding member articulated along a horizontal line to the top edge of said upright member, an upwardly reaching member articulated to the forward edge of said forwardly folding member, a backwardly folding top member articulated to the upper edge of said upwardly reaching member and opposite downwardly folding wings articulated to opposite side edges of said backwardly folding top member, said top member-extending over and to the rear of said upright member, said opposite Wings having slots therein adapted for straddling and engaging opposite .portions respectively of said upright member.
5. A display device representing a merchandise container including in combination an upright member, opposite display panels articulated along vertical lines to opposite edges of said upright member, a forwardly folding member articulated along a horizontal line to said upright member, an upward ly reaching member articulated to the forward edge of said forwardly folding member, a backwardly folding top member articulated to the upper edge of said upwardly reaching member and opposite downwardly folding wings articulated to opposite side edges of said backwardly folding top memher, said opposite wings having means for engagin said upright member and having feet extending downwardly behind said upright member, said upwardly reaching member, said backwardly folding top member and said downwardly folding wings representing a filled container supported in raised position relatively to said upright member.
In witness whereof, I hereby aflix my signature this 22nd day of January, 1926.
