Description
Patented Jan. 26, 1926.
PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE SOLAR Z, OF GALLITZIN, PENNSYLVANIA.
ICE CREEIER.
Application filed July 23, 1925. Serial No. 45,672.
ToaZZ 007mm it may concern.
lie it known that I, GEORGE SoLARz, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gallitzin, in the county of Cambria and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Ice Creeper, of which the following is a specification.
This invention aims to provide a creeper for shoes, so constructed that it may be applied to articles of foot wear of different Widths, the device being so made that it will have an unusually strong hold on the ice, slippery logs and the like, it being impossible for the shoe-strap to become de' tached from the body portion of the article. It is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that sort to which the invention appertains.
Although a preferred form has been shown, a mechanic, working within the scope of what is claimed, may make changes in that form. without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings Figure 1 is an end ele vation; Figure 2 is a side elevation showing the device as it will appear on a shoe of medium width; Figure 3 is a view similar to Figure 2 but showing the article as it will appear on a wide shoe.
The device forming the subject matter of this application comprises a metal body 1 provided at its endswith depending antislipping members 2. Loop-shaped riders 3 are adjustable longitudinally of the body.
The riders 3 are connected by a shoe-engag ing means 45 which may embody a strap wherein a buckle is interposed. -When the device is used with a shoe the sole 5 of which is ofmedium or small width, the riders 3 are engaged in any one of a plurality of seats 6 formed in the lower surface of the body 1. When the device is used with a shoe the sole 7 of which is unusually wide, the riders 3 may be adjusted downwardly on the anti-slipping members 2. The lateral edges 8 of each anti-slipping member diverge downwardly to prevent the riders 3 from becoming detached, and to enhance the hold of the members 2 on the ground. The
hold of the members 2 on the ground is promoted, further, because they diverge from each other, downwardly, as shown at 9, and because each of them is bifurcated to form pointed prongs 10.
I claim v 1. A device of the class described comprising a body provided at its ends with depending anti-slipping members, riders adjustable longitudinally of the body, and W shoe-engaging means connecting the riders, the ridersbeing adjustable downwardly on the anti-slipping members, the lateral edges of said members diverging downwardly to enhance the hold of said members on the ground and to prevent the riders from becoming detached.
2. A device of the class described, constructed as setforth in claim 1, and further characterized by the fact that the body is provided on its under surface with a plurality of seats wherein the riders may be held, in adjusted positions longitudinally of the body.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto afiixed my signature.
GEORGE SOLARZ.
