PATENT OFFICE.
FREDERICK C. KADE, QF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
ADVERTISING DEVICE FOR DRINKING VESSELS.
Application filed July 17, 1924. Serial No. 726,534.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK C. Kenn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Advertising Devices for Drinking Vessels, of which the following; is a specification.
My invention relates to drinking vessels and the object thereof is to provide tumblers and glasses with removable advertising matter. This is accomplished by fitting. the bot tom of the drinking vessel with a retaining bead or flange for holding the advertising matter which is preferably made in the form of a round disk. When the drinking vessel is used, the advertisement can then be readily seen through the bottom of the vessel.
In the accompanying drawing. one embodiment of the invention is illustrated, and
Figure 1 is a vertical section of a vessel, and
Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof.
In the drawing. the reference numeral 10 represents an ordinary glass with the usual concave bottom 11. Below the bottom is furnished an annular head 12 which holds the advertising disk 13 securely in position. The disk is preferably made of some waterproof material and carries on its upper side the advertisement. as indicated at 14 in I igure 2. The disk is slightly larger in diameter than the diameter of the groove formed above the bead 12 so that the disk will have to be forced into position. For the purpose ofremoving the disk when advertisement is to be changed. a small notch 15 is provided in the edge of the disk for the insertion of a pointed instrument when the disk can be forced out of engagement with the bead and then easily removed.
The disk is made of some suitable composition which is water-proof and for this reason it is not necessary to remove the disk when the glass is being washed.
1Having thus described the invention, I c a1m:
drinking 1. All advertising device for-drinking vessels of transparent material comprising a disk carrying a suitable imprint, on one side and adapted to fit under the bottom of the vessel, and a bead provided below the bottom of the vessel adaptedto engage with the edge of the disk to retain the same in position.
2. An advertising device for drinking vessels of transparent material comprising a disk carrying a suitable imprint on one side and adapted to fit under the bottom of the vessel. and a. bead provided below the bottom of the vessel adapted to engage with the edge of the disk to retain the same in position. the bottom of the vessel being concave and the diameter of the disk slightly larger than the diameter of the seat formed above the bead in the vessel.
8. An advertising device for drinking vessels of transparent material comprising a disk carrying a suitable imprint on one side and adapted to fit under the bottom of the vessel, and a bead provided below the bottom of the vessel adapted to engage with the edge of the disk to retain the same in position. the bottom of the vessel being concave and the diameter of the disk slightly larger than the diameter of the seat formed above the-bead in the vessel, the disk being provided with an aperture. to facilitate the removal thereof from the vessel.
4 An advertising device for drinking vessels of transparent material comprising a disk carrying a suitable imprint on one side and adapted to fit under the bottom of the vessel, and a bead provided below the bottom of the vessel adapted to engage with the edge of the disk to retain the same in position, the bottom of the vessel being concave and the diameter of the disk slightly larger than the diameter of the seat formed above the bead in the vessel the disk being pro- Vided with an aperture to facilitate the removal thereof from the vessel, said disk being made from water-proof material.
In testimony whereof I atfix my signature.
FREDERICK o. KADE. a .s.]
