IMPROVEMENT IN CLAMPS FOR lRONlNG-BOARDS.`
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 151,350, dated May 26, 1874 application Iled March 14, 1874.
To all whom lit may concern Be it known that I, HENRY BOSCH, of the city of Newark, in the county of Essex and Statev ot' New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clamp for Ironing-Boards; and I do hereby declare the following` to be a full, clear7 and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accoxiipanying' drawings, which form part 0f this speciiication.
This invention has for its object the securing; of one end ot an ironing-board to the back ot' a chair, while the opposite end rests upon a table or other suitable support.
Figure 1 is a plan view of my invention. Fig. 2 is an end view of the same.
The invention consists iu the construction oi a suitable clamping` device adapted to be adjusted upon and secured tothe back of a chair, and provided with suitable adjustable jaws for the reception of the end of the ironin g-board, to hold it in position while it is being` used for ironing.
The clamping` device may be constructed as follows: A crooked bar, A, say, twelve inches long, having its ends B B projecting` downward, say, one inch and a half, and provided, also, with a downward projection, O, in the center, in which is a thumb-screw, D, the whole constructed and adapted to be clamped to the back ot an ordinary chair, and held in position bythe projections B and the thumb-screw D, as shown. The bar A is also provided with arms E, one at each end, to which is pivoted adjustable jaws F, adapted to receive the end ofthe ironing-board and retain itin position, being clamped thereto bymeans of the thumb-screws G, as shown.
In connection with the clamping device is au iron-stand, H, adapted to be attached thereto or to stand upon the table separate therefrom, as may be desired, the bar A being provided with suitable hooks z' i, for the purpose of holding the iron-stand H in proper position, said stand being provided with slots jj for the rceeption of said hooks, all as shown.
The whole device may be constructed very cheaply by being cast.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. A clamping device for an ironingboard, adapted to be adjusted upon and secured to the back of an ordinary chair, and provided with suitable adjustable jaws for the reception of the end of the ironing-board, to hold it in position, as set forth.
2. In combination with a clamping` device for ironing-boards, an iron-stand on which to set the iron, adapted to be adjusted thereon, substantially as set forth and shown.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing` I have hereunto set my hand this 11th day of March, 1874.
