Application filed December 1, 1921. Serial no. 519,267.
To aZZ whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, ALICE SOHAEFER, a citizen of the United States, and resident of East St. Louis, Illinois, have invented 5 certain new and useful Improvements in Cushion Attachments for Handles, ofwhich the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in a cushion attachment for handles, and has for its object a bulb of some soft Inaterial which can be easily applied on the end of a broom, mop or other handle of a household article, and the purpose" is to prevent the scratching of furniture, house woodwork or the breakage of glass in the event the handle should strike the same.
Figure l is a perspective view of my invention applied in position on a handle.
Figure 2 is a sectional view of the same detached. r
In the general construction of my invention, I provide a bulb 3 made of some soft durable material such as rubber or the like, the same terminating in a socket 4 by which the bulb may be applied on the end 5 of a handle 6 such as a broom or the like. In the bulb 3 is placed an inflated ball 7 which keeps the bulb at all timesiin proper expanded position.
The essential feature of the invention is to provide a socketed bulb which can be applied to any broom handle, mop handle or similar article, so that in the event the handle falls against a glass of a cabinet it a will not break the same, neither will it scratch nor mark the woodwork when brought in contact therewith.
The device is simple yet has merit to the extent of protection to household furniture.
Having fully described my invention what I claim is:
A device of the character described, com prising a bulb ofsoft material, a socket formed on the base of the same. a ball placed in the bulb for holding the bulb in extended position and a bead formed on the haze of the socket, substantially as spec-ifie In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification, in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
