UNlTED Liv-C no LOUIS RABOW, 01E BERLIN, GERMANY.
PLAYING GARDS.
(GRANTED UNDER THE PRUVISIQNS OF THE ACT OF MARCH 3. 1921, ll STAT. L, 1313.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS Renew, a citizen of Germany, residing at Berlin, have invented a new and useful Improvement in 5 Playing Cards (for which I have filed application in Germany May 27, 1917), of
which the following is a specification.
My present invention relates to playing cards, its object being to provide improvements whereby at any time during a game the person may be ascertained whose. turn it is to shufiie the cards previously to the next game. With this object in view my invention consists in the provision of an additional card which is to form a part oi. the regular pack of cards. It is a requisite of my invention that this additional card be thus marked as to be readily distinguish able from all the other cards belonging to the regularpack in which the additional card is being used. The distinguishable marks must be provided upon the back face, but preferably upon both faces, of the ad ditional card. These distinguishable marks may appeal to the sense of color, that is, the novel additional card may be 01 a color different from the color of the other cards of the pack. Or the perceptibility of the distinguishable marks may be ensured by means of a different design, drawing, etc., or by both, a different color and a different design. It is, however, highly desirable that the additional card according to my present.
invention does not differ from the other cards of the same pack with regards to size and thickness, since the additional card is always to be included in the shuttling action and, hence, must not interfere with the proper shuttling of the pack. While the properly shnii'led pack is being dealt the additional card, when exposed, is to be placed in front of either the present dealer or the next; dealer in turn, and thus visibly indicates the person who has dealt the cards or is to deal the cards for the next game.
In order to render my invention quite clear I have illustrated an additional card according to my invention in the ae'coinpanr- 111g drawing by way of example. As shown the card may bear the inscription Dealing indicator or Dealer indicating card or any other suitable designation and may iurbe provided with special d. actions printed upon it, as to its proper use and. its oiiice. The design shown chosen to visibly and markedly distinguish the dealer indicating card from all the other cards of the pack in conjunction with which the additional card according to my invention is being used. In addition to the des'ejn and special inscriptions the dealing idi. tiin); card may be further distinguished by mean v of a different color, or if desired. by a different color only,
My novel dealer indicating card may be applied with packs of any number, such as the game to be played requires it.
What l claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent in the United States, is
In a pack of playing cards an additional card bearing an inscription upon both oi"- its faces whereby it is readily distinguished as a dealer indicating card.
Louis a now.
