To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALFRED LEQLAIRE, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Maisonneuve, Province of Quebec, Canada, have invented certain new and use ful Improvements in Napkin and Towel designed more particularly for holding napkins or towels upon the altar railings in churches and an object of the present invention is to produce a holder of this character whereb the towels and napkins may be easily and readily attached thereto or disconnected therefrom and the towel when connected can be easily swung to the desired positions without effecting its detachment from the holder.

With the above and other objects in view the invention consists of the sundr details which will be hereinafter more ully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.

Referrin now more particularly to the accompanying drawings wherein like and corresponding parts are designated by similar reference characters throughout the several views.

The holder forming the subject matter of the present invention is cast in a single piece of metal and made preferably of brass which comprises a body portion 1 having a flat rear face and projecting from the medial portion of this flat face is a screw shank 2 whereby the holder may be readily secured within any suitable support. Projecting outwardly from the rounded outer face of the body portion 1 is a pair of flared rigidly extending arms 3 each of which having enlarged semicircular heads 4 formed at the outer ends of the arms and projecting toward each other, whereby their opposite flat faces lie parallel and closely adjacent to form a slot 5 therebetween. The edges of these heads 4 are beveled as at 6 to facilitate the entrance of the loop 7 which carries the towel or napkin 8.

The holders as herein shown are attached to an altar railing for supporting the same and have suspended therefrom the towel or napkin 8. When this towel 8 is in its normal position as better shown in Fig. 1 the loop 7 rests upon the lower arm 3 of the holder, but when the towel is brought into use it is raised and the loop assumes the position as shown'in Fig. 3 of the drawings. The heads 4; of the arms 3 form substantially a cylindrical head and the loop 7 readily pass thereover when assuming the various positions without being liable to detachment from the holder. In removing the towels so that clean ones may be substituted therefor, the loop 7 is spread out so that it may be easily passed through the slot 5 formed by the heads 4. The arms 3 are rigid to prevent the heads 4 from being separated or forced apart in removing the loop 7. It is.

Havin 1 thus fully described my invention, what I c aim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

As a new article of manufacture, a holder such as described, comprising a single iece of material having a semi-globular ody portion at one end thereof having its flat side disposed outwardly, a fastening element extending axially from the said flat side of the body portion, arms extending from the side of the bod portion opposite the fastcning device, said arms beingl disposed in the same vertical plane and 'verging toward their free terminals, heads of semi-globular formation provided upon the terminal of the arms with their flat sides disposed in horizontal planes one above the other and spaced slightly apart, the edges of said flat sides being beveled, as and for the purposes set forth.
